Maggie May our Boston Bull

She just loves the smut magazine and the boat, now if she could just swim she would be perfect.

We down sized after having 2 boxers.

To teach a Boston to swim, carry her to the beach, put her down and slowly walk back to the boat............she will beat you there.

Here is our youngest, of 3 in the family, Lacy. She is fishing for dolphins playing around the boat.

Pig Dog keeping an eye out for the monster that lives on the island. She's convinced, she'll sit there for hours looking for it.

Dutchess was the most amazing water dog I have ever seen. She swam like a beaver on and under the water.
She was an incredible rescue dog that was able to pull me in from a couple hundred feet offshore during her training.

She passed in my arms on January 4th.
This will be the first season without my "first-mate".

Nice looking dog Frank. I think it is the bull dog in her that is the cause, she weights 35lb and sinks like a stone in water.

Ken,

Its a weight and balance or a Purina overload problem!

Bostons are typically built like Boxers (we've had them too) which makes the front end heavy. To get back end bouancy the back feet have to swim harder than they walk or run which may take a little training. You might also try taking the life vest off in shallow water while you are supervising since it only ads to the front end bouyancy thing.

We had a Boston about 20 years ago with the same problem and she swam vertically in the water, like treading water until we showed her how to lift her butt by swimming harder........but we had to watch her closely around the water in case she got tired 'cause she'd sink like a rock.

But Bostons are the greatest family dogs ever...........

Yep. he's another rescue bird here. 5 now....He's got a mouth on him. He came from a home where the F-U was thrown around a lot I guess. But a sweet hand fed over all.
