Exuma trip this summer?

I likey likey. If any one had time constraints getting to Nassau they could skip sail rocks and hook up at Warderick. This to me makes the most sense. As with our trips before someone always has got something going on. It's just really hard to assemble this many people.

I just emailed Sampson and told them to look for us in the 2nd week of July. You can't reserve Warderick until the day before arrival, first come, first served. next, i'll contact Compass.

Ok here goes....I have been watching the thread and I think I might not have enough gas to last the 2 nights on the hook, some of trips and distances as well , of course depending on fuel stops.
For instance, from Staniel Cay around the southern point on the map that is posted (don't even know what is there, fuel?) up to Nassau is about 130 miles. If you are staying a night on the hook, we won't make that.

We also may not be able to make the entire trip time wise. You are planning on starting everything in Nassau and that is great but I still have to get there from Daytona. I would guess about a 2-3 day trip or so. One to WPB, one to Bimini/Chub and maybe Nassau. And of course 2-3 days on the return.

I would love to make it and with you guys going that have already been that would be great. Just not sure we are able to make it and if we have the boat for this particular trip. Not knowing what is where is tough and there is not alot of info on the internet. Explorer charts is the place I have been looking for most of the stuff. It seems fuel and even dockage is pretty scarce in the Exumas, mostly anchorages? Not even sure.

Still thinking about it but just not sure.

Ok let's just solve the problems of these gasser boats (mine included). I'll just have to add an additional 250 gal fuel tank and I can then go with no worries and also supply all the gasser boats and the tenders for you big boys. So what do you think is this a do it yourself project????? Kinda shoehorn it in the cabin somewhere.

Seriously, I plan on going assuming that I can make the fuel stops. I have figured, as has trit, that the problem is going to be the nights on the hook. Two nights on the hook equals 48 gals. or 20% of my total fuel capacity.

Put me down for going.

If you convert the bed to a bladder tank, store gas in the bladder and sleep on top of it, should be pretty comfy. Gonna really suck if you smoke in bed though. :)

We are coming from Cape Coral (west coast). A stop in Marathon for fuel and a stop in Bimini for for fuel for us. We plan on staying in Bimini the 3rd and then heading to Nassau for the 4th if you want to join us.

We too have a little bit of a fuel issue 400 gallons gets us 165 NM leaving a quarter of tank for spare. However we will cut into it with the gallon an hour on the genset. I will probably not run in continously.

Ken

here are the locations and distances of the fuel suppliers for the trip..... The leg from Sampson to Green to Nassau is not shown. It is about 130 miles.

I could carry extra gas for whoever. I'm thinkin $12.00 a gallon would be fair. Hell I might be able to subsidize my trip.
Seriously I can carry fuel for either or. Guys just need to figure what they will need. Best I figure they will only need a boost from Green.

When you come out of Hillsboro headed to Nassau do you go north of hen and chicken to north of Mackie shoal to the Northwest channel jog? And is there anything to watch out for?

I think Hansen likes to cut through Cat Cay (just south of Honeymoon Harbor). From my perspective, I'll just head straight across the bank to the Pocket.

Jack or I mean "Mr. 800 Gallons"... would you carry an extra 400 for me? I'll give you 2 bucks a gal.

Ken

Sure Ken.
Those are the kind of deals I made that put me in the financial situation I'm in today. I like to buy high and sell low.

Randy,
Is it as the crow flies or do you have things to dodge?

Jack

Jack - it's shorter and quicker to head around the north. We are creatures of habit and take the south route (Gun/Cat Cut) since we have always stopped along the way near Honeymoon Harbor (tuck in on the east side and just north of the lighthouse) to anchor overnight. If you go straight to Nassau, the north route would be better.
