Proud owners of a 250 SunDancer
Engines
5.7 OMC
Well Im on my 3 boat of my own and grew up on a beautiful Old ChrisCraft Cabin Cruiser with my Father. The 3 boats I have owned were smaller and I never named one of them.
I am now the very Proud owned of a 1985 260 Sundancer in great shape.
So I have decided that she needs a name. Finding a name that means something is a hard thing to do. I wanted it to have meaning and still be original. Then the other night my wife,my dog and myself went walking and on our walks we talk about everything. We got on to my Fathers boat (which by the way I would love to find if anyone in Texas has seen an old 60 33ft ChrisCraft Constellation.
Anyway back to my boats name. My fathers boat was named the Pussycat. This was back in the late 60s early 70s. She even had Drinking glasses with the name on it. So I decided to honor my father God rest his soul and name our boat the Pussycat. Got to admit its not a common name
So now you know my story I want to know yours

My boat is named the "Schicki Micki" This is a german phrase for living extravagently. We have very dear friends from Vienna Austria and they like to make comments about people spending too much in restaurants, or buying designer jeans and paying extra for them. They called this "schicki micki" behaviour. So, to a large extent, owning a boat is a schicki micki behaviour, therefore.... my boat's name

My 2755 Bayliner is Be Happy and my 300da is Be Happy 2

We are now empty nesters and like the name of the 2755 so we kept with the theme on the Sundancer.

Good post! I should be the owner of a 1987 268 sundancer by this time next week "if all goes well on my next inspection" But I been trying to think of a name and I think I settled on " Nowhere Man " As for the meaning, theres not alot to it. I always find my self saying Nowhere "wife says where ya been-Nowhere" Where are you going-Nowhere" etc. And we are limited on money and we think this boat is gonna suck some gas,So we joke about were not going to be able to afford gas and we will be going,Yep you guessed it...Nowhere! And I like the song Nowhere Man by the Beatles.
I know most people name there boats as it was a she,but its not must "I dont think?" Its not written in stone, just a thought, what do you think of this name?
While we are on the subject can anyone recommend a place to have the name done? I seen a few places online that does it and played with the preview tools to see what it looks like and it said to get nowhere man in shadowed and outlined letters will be about $140 shipped. These were some kind of decals that you apply like window tint,is this what everyone uses? Name the place were you got yours if you were happy with quality and price.

Just go to any sign shop. They all seem to have a vinyl letter cutting machine and they can help you out. You can do your homework on your computer's word processor by laying out the font, pitch, color, etc. and e-mail it to your sign shop for final finishing touches.

LauKe ~ 1000 Islands

Pronouced "lowkey" (we both have low key personalities)

Derived from our names, Laurie & Ken

We boat in the 1000 islands area of the St. Lawrence River at Rockport, Ontario which is directly across from Alexandria Bay, NY

Our boat name is "KNOT QUIET". Our family's last name is "Quiet", but everyones asks us if we or our kids are quiet, so we used the name and tied it in to a nautical term.

We also like to have small parties on the boat with friends, so we might be a little loud.

Wayne's World, When I'm on my boat I'm in my own little boating world..

My previous 250 SLX was named 'Sand Blast' because we always seamed to find a sandy beach or sandbar to spend the day at, also I do alot of sandblasting in my ocupation.
Our new 320 Sundancer was purchaced with the name already on it 'No Regrets' we did not what to change the name because looking back at all the boats and remembering all the good times, it just fit.:smt001 Plus I was told it's taboo to rename a boat if you purchase it with the name already on it.
Looking forward to warmer days!
Jeff

"Destiny"

After owning a 320 DA for several seasons, and admiring how much more space my friend's 340 DA had in the berth and mid cabin, I found myself entertaining the thought of moving up a notch. Nothing came of it for the rest of the season. Half way through the following season, while both their family and ours were putzing around on our whalers, we saw a beautiful 340 on the hard at B&E. Since it was a sales boat, naturally we climbed aboard. It was a glorious Sunday morning, and of course the sales dept was closed and the boat locked up.

SO

In front of everyone, I held my 320's key up to the boat gods and declared "Behold, If this key works in this door, then we must buy this boat, for it is Destiny!" I then inserted the key into the door and magically, the door unlocked, the crowd gasped and the wife fainted, or did she curse?

Little did I know then that the stupid key I had on the 320 opens every single damn lock that mobella makes. Good thing I didn't try that trick on a 390.

I don't know, a 390 would have been nice too.

tell the truth, you knew the key would work?

Great thread!

Albeit our boat is small compared to most in this forum, we are going to name it before we splash it next month. I'm having a hard time and really want to pick something meaningful. I'm sure I will get some good ideas from reading your stories and names.

I married above my station in life. My wife of 27 years is the quintessential Southern babe. She was a knockout at 18 and still turns heads. I have never seen her be unkind or other than smiling and totally in control in public. She runs a great household and believes that being a mom and wife is her singular calling in life. No one would know that she is possessed of a wickedly quick wit and is one of the funniest people I have ever met, or that this perfectly proper in public person is the inspiration for the boat name...hence, "A Little Nauti".

I traded for a 1988 268DA last year. The name on the boat was "Sea Flat"...I liked it and so far have kept it. It sorta fits because my wife hates rough water..By the way-the boat came from the great lakes area-Anybody in here remember this boat? Would like to talk to previous owner...thanks...

Boo-Kini. My wife's nickname is Boo, the Kini part was "motivation" to get back in two piece bikinis. She did - at 47. Lookin good too!

My wife and I bought our boat to get closer to the water and started running into old school friends and making new friends on the many sandbars . We were sitting one evening trying to come up with a unique name and on the radio comes "Here For The Party" we looked at each other and smiled.
