It's nylon. It doesn't float. You want polypropylene.

Hollow braid (ski rope style) is fine if it's in a bag (if it comes in a long enough length). But it doesn't coil nicely if it's not. Double braid is the style you want.

EDIT: Thinking about length concerns and my comment about the $50 price above: I've never thought about the length as I don't have a ring tied-off. Maybe that $50 bag has more than 50 feet in it?
