How I became a 2009 270 Sundancer owner...

Very nice, well equiped 270. That model has made Sea Ray a fortune over the years. We went from a Ranger bass boat to a 270 in 1999. We had no idea how much we'd fall in love with the boating and marina lifestyle. My wife doesn't miss cleaning the fish either.....jk

This is my first post. I loved the story. On 01/23/10 closed the deal on my first Sea Ray, a new '09 240 SD. :smt038
Her name will be "The Best Daze". My wife and I where in a daze for a week and a half trying to decide to give up on
"Halfast", our old '94 bayliner, for something more comfortable,2 adults 2 teenagers. After lots of :smt089 we traded her in. Both my sons helped pry my fingers loose.
I can't wait, taking delivery on Feb 6th.
At least I can take her out right away,Georgia doesn't have much of a winter.

Lucky you on Georgia not having much of a winter, right now (as I look out my window at work) it's snowing... Record rain yesterday, now snowing with the forecast for -19 C (-2 F) in the next few days. Of course, I jinxed the weather by hoping for an early spring... :smt089

Congrats, on you 260DA purchase... I don't have any experience with different cruisers but I can tell when something is practical (well thought out). When compared to camping trailers, I find Sea Ray's attention to details, like the integrated garbage bins, outlet placement, MP3 jacks, lighting, storage for the teak table/post, sink insert, vberth table/post, etc., the mark for understanding the needs of the boater. That's what I like about my 270DA, there's certainly flash (looks stylish), but it's all function underneath.

And you need function when you have teenagers. My two teenage daughters, one being an actual teenager and the other one, 22 years old, acting like a teenager, are an excerise in patience.

great story, i just bought a 2010 185 sport and can only hope and pray my wife will feel the same way as she sees how much more comfortable she could be in a bigger boat

I just purchased a 27 as well. Picked our slip close to the pool area. I am moving up from a 19.5 which I purchased last July on my birthday.

With 2 young kids the 27 allows us to travel the Rideau and let them have a nap. We got the generator for heat and air. Cannot wait>

I just got my slip as well at Hurst. :grin: I'm between the pool and the Swan restaurant. Of course, most of the boats along that stretch dock stern in which sort of bewilders me since the chance of smacking one's outdrive onto rocks looks fairly obvious. My plan is to go against the flow since I requested a starboard entry bow in. I'm trying to save my aft curtain's eisen glass from being scratched :wow: by my nervous wife who hates traversing the swim platform. Also, I like looking at the water and being on the sunset side, facing north-west.

Yes the rocks are a concern. We were told there are alot of people around to help dock, so I guess time will tell.

So it's 10:00pm and I'm staring out of my office window. It's boring being on the night shift; thank god that it's only for the Olympics. However, the up side is I've pretty much read every post on CSR, looking for information on how/what to install on my 270. The down side is that I'm really missing the boat. :smt089 The temperature right now is -0.7 C so here's hoping that old man winter is losing his grip...

Of course, I can't wait for spring for numerous reasons. First up is getting my hands on the boat so that I can install my new radome (Raymarine RD218) and satdome (Raymarine 33STV) with Bell ExpressVu. These are going to be mounted on the arch via a ScanStrut compact dual power tower. Besides that, I'm also installing a wireless terminal (Internet/voice) and Sirius satellite radio. All of these installs require me to route/fish a lot of wires, namely radar cable, antenna cables, power, cat5 (for outlets), and video/audio cables. That's the part that is making me go bonkers as I'm buying components (outlet boxes, wall plates, cables, power inverter, DC breaker/rocker, and other components) not really knowing how I going to squeeze this stuff on the boat (like the Bell terminal, ACU, Sirius tuner, inverter being squeezed into the MDP cabinet). Obviously there is going to be a moment where I go "Crap! I need XYZ cable or part" :smt100 and I got to wait for the parts to come in. Hopefully I can get the all the external stuff mounted in one shot.
