Maryland - Who's out there?

Presente! Freezing right now. I believe I have a photo of your boat on my desktop at work since I don't have a nice photo of ours. Or as clean.. (I know Bill 2010 will be the year of clean! We all don't live around the corner from the boat!) I believe you posted one in another thread. Your registration is only -7 from our 1997 330...

Looking forward to getting down your way again this year.

We love Tilghman and spend a couple weekends there and usually July 04 weekend.

Great run from Tilgman to Oxford and Cambridge for the day.

We dry stack in South River.

Yo, there's more of us than I thought. TCASON - I keep my boat at Tilghman on the Chesapeake, great little spot. I make the run to Oxford and Cambridge regularily.

I just got my boat in August so I'm still new to boating. I hope to head on down to Solomons and Smith Islands for a couple of weekends next season.

I store the boat at Knapps Narrows in the winter.

Alegria,
My boat on your desk top, really? That's funny.

How long have you had yours, I got mine from Clarks Landing on Kent Island.

Our boats are like twins, only difference externally is the registration numbers and radar. That is an upgrade I want to do soon.

We got ours in 2009. She still needs some love and detailing, but she is a great boat for our family of 5. We used her more last season, thanks to the folks here and the great folks at our marina, then we every used our old 280 Sea Ray in the 5 seasons we had her.

Can't wait for spring to be back on the bay!

Hello and welcome from Gunpowder Cove (Joppa MD). Lots of Maryland boaters here, let’s face it we have the Chesepeake Bay!

Howdy from Bill's Boats in Millers Island!!!!!!!!

SkiBum,

Took me a while and found Bill's near Miller's Island... Looks like a nice marina for the sat view... Looks to me, like Millers Island is a dredge sploil island... Why do they have what looks like road around the island???

Looks like I will be moving my boat to Chesapeake City Marina in the summer of 2011, if the world does not end, or I get another job locally... I looked at some marinas on the Middle River, but I can't beat the covered slips and proximity of the marina on the Northeast River... Hopefully we could meet your gang at Fairlee Creek sometime in '11...

Rod

Rod,

I think you were looking at Hart-Miller Island? That is the disconnected island and yes it was created with all the stuff dredged out around Inner Harbor and I am guessing areas close by. I thought though that they were closing it from accepting new dredging shortly or this year. The locals on here feel free to enlighten me more on the genesis of it all!!!

Hello from Middle River, and yes, they are not accepting any more spoils, in the process of capping it and turnong into a wild life refuge. Bob

Yep. The work boats that have been taking the workers to the island leave from Bills. I spoke with a few of them in early December and they are indeed closing the operation down. The locals are concerned because no one knows where future dredge materials will be dumped even though they never filled up the island to the intended level. I think it is being closed because they didn't want to extend the project for financial reasons. The road is just that, a road for the work trucks.

Here's a pic of the Craighill Channel lower range light that sits directly in front of Bills. It is not a lighthouse as stated in the pic.

Yeah Rod, I'm looking forward to meeting some you guys next year. I haven't met anyone yet. Between the admiral, her kids, my friends, and work, I just haven't been able to make any of the raft ups. I've heard folks hailing Bill (Sandy's Beach), and I spoke with SeaHarley a couple of times on the radio, but never made a meet up. We'll need to plan a raft up early next year for the locals.

Heck.. I haven't even met Rich (SeaRenity) yet and I see his boat in his slip all the time. I'm in the dry stacks and when my boat is in the water its tied up all the way on the other side of the marina. I have met his neighbors, though.

I think there already is enough "wild life" there on the weekends!!!

BTW how do you like your 460? That may be my next boat:grin:..

Take Care!!

We are planning an overnight raft up at Still Pond in June, 5th and 6th I believe. I just have not entered on our website calendar yet. I am sure we will be bringing a lot of boats from Gunpowder, let’s make it CSR as well and turn it into a really big one!

Alegria, Going on the 4th season, and we love it. It has performed great. Also on the dredge thing, most of the spoils came from dreding the harbor and approaches, they are opening a new spot for the harbor at Masonville and the rest goes down to popular island, so i'm told. Bob
