Well did Some of the Better Technical Posters leave CSR?

I'm surprised we havn't read a post on this site about someone that took bad advice and the end result cost them financially or worse...life. There are some real advice slingers on the site lately...There are some that will take advice from anyone and consider it fact without any further research on their part. That is where I hope some of us will still care enough to step in and throw a flag where it is warranted. Considering what can be at risk, I hope the more experienced stick around.

Happy New Year everyone!

If you stick around, talk boating, joke around, be happy, share your experiences, help others when they ask. If I piss you off, fire back in a PM as I'm sure there was a misunderstanding. May God bless you and your families. Have a wonderful 2010 and beyond.

If you leave, enjoy your boating. May God bless you and your families. Have a wonderful 2010 and beyond. Nice meeting you. Bye.

You know Frank this site is about interacting, not providing encyclopedic information. Anyone can open a book a get that. And from certified experts and technicians, not a bunch of know-it-all wannabes whose only interest is to stroke their own egos or promote their blogs. Sometimes that interaction includes personal anecdotes and, shudder the thought, inaccurate information!
This site stopped being informational when the self proclaimed elite began ridiculing the average poster for "imperfect" input and detered those from contributing "imperfect" thoughts.
This place can only improve in their absence.

I was not going to jump into this thread but I can't hold out any longer. I think the above post has 6 sentences in it. 5 of them are as weak as branch water. Sorry jg, I dissagree. You have got to do alot better to convince me that "This place can only improve in their absence".

Been a few comments in the last few pages about what’s wrong with Jim/CSR. Some posters are calling for stiffer moderation but awhile back when the subject of heavy handed moderation, censorship, etc came up the overwhelming response was…NO, we don’t want that here. One suggestion is to kick to the curb all those that post non boating related content. Apparently no more what kind of car you got, look at this cool airplane, what music do you like, lets see your dog, CSR family grief center posts would be allowed. I question some of those threads but I do recognize that members have other things they want to share with their CSR buds and it does sort of round out the body of CSR. A little more effort posting in the proper location, a little more effort keeping threads on track and a huge effort by people to resist reading threads they don’t like would go a long way.

In reality there are just a handful each of experts and idiots at any one time that disrupt the site. Neither side will acknowledge that their actions are anything but justified and insist that that they do what they do only because they have boating, SR and CSR’s best interests in mind. Both groups tend to think that Jim is not doing something right. How about that liiiiitle group of experts and idiots start out the new year by moderating their own actions. I would prefer that no one leaves the group but YOU folks have to change instead of continually bumping heads. I know some of you will want to debate what came first the chicken or the egg, if you continue to do that there can never be an end.

Disclaimer: I have not spent any money at BOE, I rarely contribute to this forum by posting technical answers, I have rarely asked a technical question, I do not have the spec sheets for marine diesels memorized, I don’t take very good photographs and have yet to service a vaccu flush system plugged by feminine hygiene products. As these are considered characteristics of a valued CSR member you can see my opinions may not be worth sh-t.

This coming from a guy whose only contribution to this site has been to get Skippy out of a jam by buying his old boat.
And now an insult to the site owner...

Gives a bad name to toadies everywhere.

LOL! You wound me sir with your biting wit.

But you are wrong, I've posted quite about about my Smartcraft upgrade and various other 320DA-related things. Certainly more positive information than your drooling rants.

But hey, don't let little things like facts get in the way of your bile! Hahaha!

BTW, what size shoes do you wear?

How is any of this Jims or the moderators faullt ?????????? We're all supposed ADULTS here.....moderate yourself !!!.........Either way I enjoy both the banter AND the tech advice.......But,some of you guys take yourselves TOO seriously ! Lighten UP !! LIFE IS SHORT.......ENJOY !! By the way,HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!!!!!

I joined CSR quite a while ago and have chose to read and listen more than I talk. I thought this was a site dedicated to Sea Ray owners who love boating. Certainly there are times for humor and some good natured ribbing but there isn't a single person that has joined this site that wants to be ridiculed, embarrassed or have their character assassinated.

Those that do these things obviously don't find boating their first love!

I'd like to thank all those that have answered the questions I've had . . . that's why I'm here. To those that asked something that I responded to, I tried to so with honesty and integrity.

This whole thing is getting out of hand? Why?

Maybe it's time for some New Years resolutions.

MWPH, I agree with you. JG, I am surprised at your analysis.

The information many of the experienced boaters present is extremely valuable. You can learn more here in a few minutes than you would with thousands of hours of your own research. So dimishing the the experienced contributors is, as Todd said, "ridiculous".

Boats are very expensive and using them can involve tremendous risk. If somebody gives someone else advice that may cost them a lot of money, or risk safety, I will point it out. We're all adults and should be capable of handling someone informing us we are wrong.

There are "new" posters that are appearing in larger quantities who often don't even list a boat in their signature, offer no valuable information, and only seem to look for opportunities to attack and incite many of the charter members of this forum. That, I believe is the real problem that is detracting from the board.

The interesting thing to me is if these trolls are successful in drving away the experienced members, the board will fail. The trolls have nothing to offer each other, or anyone else.

I won't stand by when someone takes a shot at Frank.....that is nonsense and you should be ashamed of yourself. A review of Frank's posts for the past year show a guy who sincerely tries to help other boaters either in public postings or on private emails.

Frank has saved CSR owners hundreds of thousands dollars with his analysis and expertise. Can you say the same for your contribution?

If you want a social networking site where you can make superficial comments, be bitter to your heart's content or insult people please find another one. There is no "value add" in your behavior to make this a better place.

BTW I put my money on the line for this site. I advertise on CSR because people like Frank make it the best independent Sea Ray resource available. That's what brings people to this site and keeps them here.

Where is Turtle and his rabbit with a pancake on it's head when we need it. Is this thread done yet?

:lol::smt043:lol::smt043

Now that is what I'm talking about.

Hopefully the technical posters will remain and the BSers will be ignored.

Yep, and one of them "Oaktree" has already been taken care of.

I'm naked in the mountains of west virginia reading this thread. I'm about to eat a pizza and jump in a jaccuzzi that I'm sure at least 10 kids pee'd in. it's snowing, my ass is sore, and my GF won't shut up.

JG, not sure what your hangup is, but it's old and boring. You want to bring us all down to the lowest common denominator and that doesn't work for me.

That explains the bitterness.

Hey Scott, It might be bad luck having the S.S. Minnow as your avatar.....
