Well did Some of the Better Technical Posters leave CSR?

It’s OK John, no biggie.

Here, take a stab at this question.

When changing spark plugs in a Cummins diesel do you turn them clockwise or counter clockwise to get them out?

Nice. I never made that mistake, I don't think.

I've read through the "meat and tater" parts of this thread. For me, it comes down to this, ultimately I'm the one responsible for what I take away from the laptop screen. If someone doles out semi-incorrect advice and I screw up my boat, shame on me.

I've seen posts where someone will suggest using automotive parts or non ignition protected devices in gas ER...those that I see, get called out. On one instance, I got caught in a pissing contest because of it...how said I thought, someone would rather argue about trying to be right than shut up and learn from it...or think about the safety of themselves or their family.

I don't post as often as I used to, and I don't consider myself "one of the better technical posters". However if I read a thread that can benefit from my experience, then I will participate in the spirit in which I came here in the first place.

You guys need this.

. You can thank me later.

Really good to see Frank in the middle of that hug......he seems so....happy

If forums are treated like life then there shouldn't be any problems. Our forums are just like any others I have participated on so I really don't think there are any issues within our control. Most of the discussion around here seems to focus on information needing to be 100% correct and it is unnacceptable and untolerable if anything less than 100% correct is given. On the internet folks, that just isn't going to happen. Am I the only one who realizes this?

So if I am correct and all info is not 100% correct then the issue is how do we correct the incorrect info. One member in this thread (Frank) likes to ignore the bad info and post the correct info instead. Because of his credibility around here most anybody will take his opinion over anything else. With Frank's technique there is never any controversy, and all sides leave the conversation a little better off for it. Same as would happen in real life, say on the dock talking with a bunch of boaters you don't know. Even if one of the strangers doesn't agree with Frank it won't be a big deal because Frank was nice enough about presenting his info.

Now on to the reason for this madness. We have another poster who puts out equally legit advice as Frank but in doing so will call those before him that put out bad info idiots, tards, morons, and many other words that I have forgotten. In doing so it takes away from his own credibility, makes all parties mad, and everybody generally leaves a little worse off for ever getting involved. Let's say this user was doing the same thing on a dock with a bunch of stranger boaters, calling strangers idiots and such to their face in front of their friends. Well, we can assume what might happen if he crosses the wrong guy. This is why none of us go around calling people we don't know idiots and tards to their faces.

So here are the two opposite ends of the spectrum for earning street cred on an internet forum. One works and has no consequences. Moral of the story, we should all be more like Frank. This is such an easy concept for me to understand, so I'm sorry if I am not more understanding of those that can't understand this. I'll try.

Jim +100

I think Jim simplifies and cleans up this whole problem, to paraphrase: if everyone just assumes that they are, or will be, face to face with the other party, then the problems will stop. As others have learned, the internet makes the world flat, and anybody can find you if they really want to, so don't give them a reason to want to.

There I go again - no I'm not - yes I are - am not - can't I just make a point without trying to be funny - I'm not being funny - I got that right - Oh, great, now I'm getting personal. Why does it always have to come down to that? Nothing? Now I've clammed up? Fine.

LMFAO!!

All I can say is I greatly appreciate the great information most people post and dismiss the rest. We all should be very thankful that Jim takes the time, money and effort to provide us this site as without it I'd be missing allot of great information.

Many thanks to Frank, Jim and I'm sure many others that I hope to meet someday. Hope everyone has a great winter just waiting to get back on the water for those that can't right now. On another thought, wouldn't it be great if a bunch of the Souther CSR members put together a late January boating weekend open to the rest of us Northers. For those of us that can't make it take plenty of pictures especially of all the ladies to see what we are missing in January & February down South.

Merry Christmas,

The better techinical posters were driven off systematically by a troll call four suns and his followers. We now have a Sea Ray site with left over followers looking for a home and a person named "skip" trying to pull bring the followers to a new site. Let's hope the new year brings real boating knowledge to club sea ray and not people that buy their way into life.

Happy new year

Well, oaktree of vast knowledge and a total of THREE posts thank you for your good wishes !!!

PS: try spell check next time "technical" is spelled wrong....

If this is what we can expect on CSR for '10 I hope Skip lets me go to the other place.

Are you back again? Pathetic.

If you just can't live without this place, Be a man and email Jim and ask him to reinstate you.

I am so weary of this crap that I just feel like saying " I'm gone..........you guys can just figure it out by yourselves".

I'm not sure what the answer here is, but I'm certain it isn't to have people like Frank, Gary and a few others stop contributing. I have gotten valuable advice from each of the aforementioned and hope to have them continue as a resource. If not I'll just resort to the age old, tried and true method of paying to solve my boat related questions, but, I won't have near the same fun or education that way. It always seems that it's those that could benefit most from the wisdom of others are the least likely to appreciate it.

Ok I just read the whole story. Sat down with a beer, got to post #88 "Ass Clown" and got anouther beer. Finished the read, got anouther beer and did a search for ass clown. 55 thread hits. Looked through a couple with very few responces and found clown and ass, but no "ass clown". Sure am glad this all went on in the Tiki Bar. cheers to all ... happy new year ... Ron

PS ... I really need the 2010 boating season to start
