I would like to welcome K&B Supply to the site. K&B manufacturers exhaust silencers that insert right into your exhaust tubes, have no affect on performance, and can silence engine/exhaust noise up to 75%. They are an OEM manufacturer for exhaust silencers and diverters used in new boats. The silencers are only $88/ea. Please buy 1 or 2 and let us know how they work. Thanks K&B! http://www.knbsupply.com/insisy.html

I would like to introduce myself my name is Dan and I am the owner of K&B Supply and K&B Performance Marine exhaust products. I have been building products for the boat builders for 10 years+ and I have recently started K&B Supply to get our products out to the retail market direct from the factory, which will give you, the retail customer the ability to buy OE components at a discounted price. We have primarily been in the Tournament ski boat market and the day cruiser market for many years supplying marine mufflers and exhaust diverters to most of the boat builders around the world. I joined this site to promote our products and help any of you with your exhaust problems, or if you simple have a question I am here to help.

We have been running ads on this board for a few months now and I would like to talk a little about this product. It is a very unique silencer because it is very small but very effective. For all of you that have the older or newer style Sea Rays or any boat that exhausts out the side, our In-Tube silencer can dramatically reduce your cruising noise and idle noise without hindering the performance of your boat. The best part about our In-Tube’s is that they are simple to install. Now this product is designed for gas engines only, but we are working on some diesel applications that should be ready for market in the next few months. All you have to do is remove the rubber hose between the engine exhaust riser coming of the manifold and the Y elbow going down to the water lift muffler and slid our In-tube into the rubber hose and reattach your hoses back to the riser and the Y pipe. That all you have to do, and you are ready to go boating. Very, Very, simple, and you don’t have to cut anything, drill any holes, or remove any old exhaust components from your boat. Can’t get any simpler. The one thing about all of our products is that we try to make them all user friendly. So if you have any questions feel free to ask, I am here to help. For any of you that are looking for an exhaust diverter system we do have OE systems for the Patchanga 22s, 23, 24, & 25, the 270 SD, the 290SD, and the 300LX. I look forward to hearing from all of you.

Thanks
Dan

I'm interested in knowing what principle this silencer uses.

My boat has water lift mufflers, but they still allow a fair bit of "drone" at cruising speed. Will your product reduce the thru-hull exhaust noise by 65% as indicated with a system like mine?

Jimmy

Thanks for the question. We have developed a way to manipulate the pulse wave of the engine which intern results in lower db levels and it will not interfering with the performance of the engine, and we can do this in a very small package. This system has been installed on thousands of boats throughout the world, and it is one of the few systems that Merc allows on the 1075HP High Performance engine that doesn’t void the warranty. So will it work for your application and eliminate the drone? Yes without a doubt, the tournament ski boat manufacturers have been doing this exact set up for the past few year and it is the only reason that they can sell their boats in Europe. If you would like to purchase a set and they don't work for you, send them back and I will refund you all your money including the freight.

Thanks
Dan

Oh great, something else for the wishlist...

Question for Dan - have you considered a "before" and "after" video? Like Jimmy I'd really be interested in how well these work at cruise - sound at idle is not an issue.

I would also be interested in a video showing the same thing with the GENSET IN-LINE SILENCING SYSTEM...I have a Kohler 5E Generator.

There is a video on the website that demo's the silencer on a diesel genset. However, it's on land and not on a boat. Nonetheless, it looks like it cuts the noise. I don't mind the rumble of my engine at the dock....it's the drone while I'm underway and also the gen.
.

Hi Dan,

Would these silencers be effective on a 1997 250 Sundancer with the bravo 3 outdrive? I am not clear if the silencers are only effective on boats which have an exhaust out the side of the boat above the water line or if they would also be effective on boats which exhaust into the water through the bravo 3 outdrive.

Thanks, Pete.

Sounds like a good Xmas present for Island Rythm! (no pun intended... ok, a little pun intended)

Clarification required. Are they on sale for $88 each or per pair? Also, am I correct in assuming that I would need one pair per engine since two exhaust tubes come off the engine into a water-lift muffler?

It would be great to tone down the exhaust drone at cruise. It seems that the drone is greatly reduced if I run either below or above 3500 RPM. Unfortunately, 3500 is the speed at which we are most comfortable cruising.

My In-Tubes are designed for an In-board application. With an I/O their isn’t enough room to slide the In-Tubes into the rubber hose, but we can custom make an elbow that would replace the STD Merc elbow going from the riser to the bull horn with a muffler built into it. This would greatly reduce the drone at cruise.

I would love to make a video that can show this, but it is very difficult to record the sound variance in a moving boat. What would work best, is that you try them out. With this product you don’t have to modify your boat so it makes it very easy to install or uninstall them.

Yes, we do offer a full refund back that includes the parts and the freight to you. I will also cover the freight back to me, so you don’t incur anymore charges than the initial purchase.

Is this something you have done before? Also, what would you expect the cost to be? Also wondering if you have a diagram showing typical installation for the GENSET silencer.

Thanks
Jason

We already build a stainless steel replacement elbow for the Merc engines, so all we do, is put our muffling components into the elbow, and it should give the same results as an inboard application. With our EST muffling components in the elbows they will cost $138/pr.

As for the generator muffler, it really doesn't matter where you install it. The only stipulation is that you will need around 10" of rubber hose some place between the generator and the exhaust port. With the Kohler 5E you should be able to install it between the genset and the water lift muffler.

Just ordered two pair. My report on the co service and effectiveness of the product will unfortunately have to wait until spring!:smt013

I'll be sure to post the results. Anyone know how to get spring here earlier??

Once again thanks for the order... You won't be disappointed.

have you splashed yet?? I'm curious how these silencers are performing. How difficult was install??

Thanks and good luck.

I am curious too and had this as something on my spring list, but I have been trying to get in contact with Dan or some at K&B Supply with some questions and maybe place an order, but I get no reply to emails or voice mail. Has anyone talk to them lately or are they out of business? Are there any other muffler companies that make these also?
