Southwest Airlines…

Arizona, I like your new avatar....I think I sat next to you on my SWA flight yesterday.....Next time buy 2 seats!

We fly for pleasure, earn enough RR credits with tickets, hotels, car rentals, credit cards, etc that we always have RR tickets to spare plus qualify for the Companion Pass. If SWA flys to our destination we're onboard.

We like the new boarding procedures, the friendly staff, the occassional song & the new $10 early boarding pass option.

From a controller's standpoint from back in the 70s, you couldn't ask for a better bunch of pilots & it didn't take long for BN & AA to be last or at least #2. They'd give you whatever you needed if possible...immediate takeoffs, fast taxi, max climbs & rapid decents, slow flight, would accept cross winds & always pleasant. Wish I'd bought stock earlier.

Delta has many TV's especially on trans-cons, and is getting more. They have wi-fi being installed as well as cell phone connections, I understand. Also, they are the largest airline in the World, actually serving many, many communities whether highly profitable or not. Unlike Sworst, which simply cherry picks the cream off the top to nobody's liking, but their own.

Hampton, I like your style... Fly Delta, so I can buy a bigger boat
I'm with John. All of you please fly Delta!

So my oldest son can get back to being a pilot - he flew for Delta Conn, out of Atlanta, and is on Furlough. He misses flying.

I was at the front of the bus this morning, but this afternoon was a different story. I’m no authority on who qualifies as a pre-board or not, but it did appear to me that everyone who boarded before me this afternoon had a good reason.

I’m turning it around quickly as I have a 6:55 AM flight to Denver in the morning. I’m A-24 and will post an update, but assume since it is so early in the AM that there will be very few ahead of me, including blue-sleeves and Business Select.

If I could fly Delta, I definitely would, they are still a conventional carrier and offer some “frills” that I go for. Unfortunately they don’t have a lot of flights going where I go…

A few mentioned Alaska and I can second that, I have only flown them a few times, but it was truly a good experience. I have a few friends that fly them on somewhat of a regular basis and support their consistency. Aren’t the ranked quite well?

All you haters out there, just remember, the lady on my shoulder in my avatar is all mine, and I am all hers…

Glamour Shots are expensive, but they are the B-O-M-B!!!

Netjets is definitely the way to go when I'm given a choice, otherwise its AA, Delta or USAir, depending on where I'm going.....and I fly ALOT....I refuse to fly Southwest

No... I just heard they are nice..

Big money right there!!!

I’ve been fortunate enough to hitch a ride a few times, Citation twice and a Falcon once.

I’m pretty low on the totem poll so it used to be at the leisure of my employer before the economy took a giant DUMP!

Weight and balance was always a consideration as well, have you seen my avatar???

I always get nervous when the flight crew starts to move people around to even the load.

Ok, it was pretty quiet in Phoenix this morning. Maybe I’ve just run into a bit of bad luck lately with pre-boards...

I am on 'MIL Leave' from an airline job and I can't imagine going back now.

I cringe and get upset when I think of the state of the industry and the poor customer service I see and hear about.

'Hampton' had a good post on another thread that gave some of the reasons for 'the fall' of what I remember the airline industry being.

The picture in the last post brings back an unpleasant memory of me raising my voice in the gate area in Philly after someones grandma was stuck on our aircraft for 20 minutes because the gate agents wouldn't follow up on a wheel chair call. I always asked the lazy support folks if they had Grand-Parents and if they would let anyone treat their family as poorly. Grrrrr!

I hope everyone understands that I have ZERO issue with folks that need assistance, my issue is/was with the entourage that went along with the person needing assistance, ahead of me, AND perhaps some that are purposely navigating the system by way of requesting pre-boarding.

Couple these issues by a lack of consistency with policy from gate to gate and you have one pissed off business traveler on your hands…

We always preboared when our kids were young, per the rules mind you, one adult per child. I miss those days. I tried this over Easter, but the gate agents weren't buying it - I guess when the child in question is now over 6' tall it doesn't work as well.:smt009

Sorry bud, I never even thought you meant that. Seeing the picture of the wheel chairs just triggered a neuron.

And I do know what you mean about the folks who can't walk ON the aircraft but smiled and hurriedly walked OFF the plane at the other end when I stood and said.."Buh-Bye" (SNL skit).

Re: Southwest Airlines…

Delta suffered another major embarrassment this week when a Delta pilot landed a passenger jet on a taxiway at Atlanta-Hartsfield International Airport instead of the runway. The NTSB also is investigating that mishap.

That makes me what to not fly at all!!!!

The other issue with business select is boarding the middle leg of a multi-leg flight. I've had situations where I've boarded business select, and the cabin was 1/4 full with people on the flight from the first leg.

I fly every week and usually end up on SWA once or twice a month, because of schedules, not by choice.
