I’m a dedicated listener. My favorites are Howard, and Bubba. Embarrassing, yes, but on the other hand, they are extremely entertaining. Anyone else; truck, car, boat, etc.? It is mostly during the work week for me, but it doesn’t hurt to have it on the water either…

I miss it, my free promo expired, I might renew...

I bought a lifetime membership for 4 receivers a few years ago. Love the music and sports.

I have it in the Navi and on the boat. My wife doesn't want it for her car. I like it but think it was better pre-merger. Don't listen to the talk channels.

John........what is the cost of a lifetime membership? Can you switch receivers if you change boats or vehicles?

Dave

I paid $300, 2 1/2 years ago. I didn't know of any switchover limitations at the time, but I have since heard (via rumor) that you can't switch them over. I will probably raise a stink if that happens. So far, I've only used one.

Just like cable TV, I couldn't be without it. I'm addicted to talk radio and news. I have it in 2 of my cars as well.

We like Sirius NASCAR radio, during a race. They have different announcers in each turn and these guys really get into it. If I could see it on TV, and listen to the radio announcers, it would be the best of both medias.

Up here in the mountains it is the only way to get clear (live) sound. Rock, County and Jimmy Buffet. No talk for me. Have to agree with fc3 was better before the merge.

By the way Arizona much better posts.

I listen to Howard via Sirius online just about every day. I tune into Bubba sometimes too. Usually when teh afternoon rolls around I'm too busy to remember to turn Bubba on. Both are great!

I've had Sirius radio on the boat for a few years, and am in trial status of Sirius Radio, Weather, Fuel Prices, sports scores etc ("Travel Link") in the car.

I prefer to use iPod Genius for music at the boat and in the car, but Howard is a great way to kill some time on a boring commute. When I need to get some adrenalin pumping in anticipation of a heated work meeting, or passing 4 semis on an Ohio 2-lane, 90 seconds of that wack-job Dr. Laura does the trick. (seriously, who IS her audience???)

I'm wondering about Sirius Weather for the boat. I like it in the car, but the data can have 10 minute delay, so I'm not sure that I'd be happy paying a considerable up-charge to get old data when my own free radar gives me to-the-second echos of storm cells.

My neighbor swears by it, but he commutes in a Cessna...

I've used it in a friend's Bonanza (aka airplane for pure boatists). The unit didn't boot for the first 1/2 of the first flight (for me), but we didn't have any wx issues then. After that, it was quite useful. Radars are great, but with significant weather, you can't see what's behind the first one. You may try to cut into a gap only to learn the big stuff was hidden by the first wave of cells.

With Serius Wx, you can "see" forever.

Big 10 sports and jazz for us. Also 50s and 60s and a little Elvis.

This is outstanding, love to hear the good reviews. I own a truck load of their stock at .15. I have sold off as it has climbed to the .70 mark but it has been a solid buy.

My only concern is that I don't see my kids having any interest with the radio. In fact my guess is that you won't see radios in cars within the next 10 years. I think we will start seeing garmin, ipod, and blackberry plug ins that interact with your car. Trends start with the kids so just watch what they are doing.

scv1 is great to keep kids happy. does the wx have the same channels or only weather?

 I am not pirceing anything:wow:

John, if Weather cost $5, it would be a no-brainer, but the last time I looked into it, they wanted around $15/month.

The wind info would be useful though. If I expect to take the boat out soon after arriving to the marina, I make a habit of looking at the weather in the car on my way in. That way I know how quickly, or not, I have to unpack.

Fishnut - "PLUG IN" a Blackberry?! only if the batter is dead! It's all about Bluetooth!

What I think we'll stop seeing in cars are the cords.

Mike's fault...

Wasn’t the V-tail often referred to as “The Doctor Killer”? Too many MD’s with their new licenses flew them into the soup, and as a result were witness to the maximum structural integrity of the airframe?

Not really on topic, but I doubt they had satellite wx either…

Yeah, Beach ended up taking quite a hit, and all along it was piss poor decision making skills on the part of the left seat…shame. I only had a few opportunities to roll the throttle forward on a V-tail, but it sure seemed nice.

As far as Baron’s go, if I had the capital for a really nice twin, a Baron 58 with upgraded engines and avionics would indeed top my list…they are absolutely sexy if you ask me.

The US Army used to let me fly their toys, but that got all screwed up (not their fault). I still have a 3rd Class medical, thank you very much, and fly GA on occasion!!!

If I am not mistaken, I think FC3 is somewhat of a Mooney connoisseur, but I am not completely sure…

Dude, this thread is about Howard and Bubba and you are ruining it (joke)!!! I could talk aircraft all night long.

I think it is awesome that Jim listens to Bubba, it is truly unique radio…
