Congrats on the boat! Obviously won't be able to help in person,
but what are some of your biggest issues that I may be able to talk you through right here? Hope I can help...

Likewise...I never had your particular model (couldn't afford one that nice when our oldest was eight!) but applaud your getting some input. Starting from the beginning...do you tow it to the lake and drop it in? Or is it full time in a marina at a slip?

I absolutely know nothing and dont have a clue what to even ask you. I guess for starters can I start it for a few seconds just in the driveway with out a hose or muffs?

Not a pro on that. Ours stays in its slip in the marina. Have someone that has experience with trailering help you launch the boat for the day. Get into an open area of water and play around.

Not sure if you have any idea even how to operate it to any extent...? Take a Coast Guard Boaters' Safety course. Best thing you'll ever do.

Once in the water. Run blower for a few minutes before starting. This will get all fumes from the engine out of the engine compartment. Open hatch, look around briefly. Close hatch. Start engine. Shut blower off once the engine is started. Press button on throttle and lightly push forwards, to get out of neutral. Once in "Forward" or "drive" you can accelerate/decelerate without pushing that button. Boats don't have brakes!!!!!! To stop/idle, pull back to neutral position. To reverse, click the button in again and pull backwards.
Hope that helps a little bit?

Oh also, make sure when you're trailing the boat, the drive is ALL THE WAY UP. Do this by pushing the "up" indicator for the trim on the side of the throttle. Hold this until the drive is all the way up. When you're going slow in the water, make sure the drive is all the way down. Upon acceleration, once the boat is on plane, raise the drive a couple of notches. This will increase fuel economy, as well as performance. Just make sure that if you slow down and want to accelerate again, bring the drive back down before you do so. Once on plane, bring it up again a little bit. This is just a minor thing, but good to know.

I'm trying to think of other things that you should know right away. You should know that on a boat like yours, you should keep weight distribution in mind. Make sure when you fuel up, you open the hatch and run the blower for ~5 minutes before starting the engine.

Really, I think you need to take the Coast Guard Course. I am writing this in a hurry because we're heading out on our boat right now

I'm a high school sophomore, and I took the course as soon as I could, when I was 12 years old. That course helped me so much!! I now have my Captains' License and have experience driving boats in the 40 foot range. It's definitely a lifestyle.

Hopefully I helped you... Enjoy.

I went over to check out Andy's boat. Nice boat for the age. I think he got a pretty good deal. A little TLC on the hull and she will be an absolute beauty! Used my muffs and she fired right up, idled well and came up to temp. We went over some of the basics about starting, trimming, trailering in the driveway. Talked about the boat ramp do's and don'ts.

Anybody got a link to a pre launch checklist?

I've got to get to football practice (son) but I wanted to put this out there so we can help him out some more. Met his son and he was a nice young man also!

His prop is really dinged up. What does a 13.75 x 21 aluminum prop go for?

Full Time,

Here is the link to Delta Prop in Cincy. give them a call when you are ready to talk props. They know their stuff.

Delta Propeller

You need to add your boat, motor info to your signature line in the user CP. I guess you call that a Sea Ray 200 Overnighter. check out other signatures to see how to write it.

I checked out some online adds for boats like yours. You need to call the previous owner and aplogize because you apparently stole the thing.

Less than 10 minutes from Mariner's. I am in Delhi, just off of River Road and Anderson Ferry. I looked at storing at Mariner's, but my sister moved to Harrison and has a big driveway and lets me store it in her driveway for free . We do more boating at Brookville than the river so I just pick it up on the way.

Fulltime, glad to hear you got everything up and running. Not sure if we are going out this weekend, but if we do, you are more than welcome to bring your boat along. I will send you a PM.

Welcome to CSR. I also have a 1992 200, but the bowrider, bot overnighter. Great boats! Wish I lived closer so I could help you out, but I moved from Cinti area in 1986. Miss it a lot. Sounds like you've gotten some good help so far, and are on your way to enjoying your new Sea Ray. Let's see some pictures of her. Pictures of mine can be seen by clicking the link below.

Good Luck!
