Shifting demand from future purchases, limitting suplies of good used parts, shipping the steel back to China where it can be re-made into something else and re-sold to us, coaxing people to trash their perfectly functioning often times debt free vehicle for more debt aside, this scares the hell out of me. Yeah yeah yeah, I know... Glenn Beck is a bit crazy and sometimes alittle "Black Hellicopter" but take a quick look

just fist f*&^ing more american business to help g.m. and chrysler. repair shops, used car lots, salvage yards...buyers without a lot of $ who can't afford the new g.m./chrysler sh*&.

sickening. F&%k g.m, chrysler, the u.a.w., acorn, and obama.

I think they should of called it Cash for Suckers not Clunkers.
 
I hate the the thought of already paying taxes for unearned income credit and now paying about the same amount additional for someone to buy a car.:smt013
 
When I bought my F150, I got around 9k off the sticker. So if this program was in place I would have gotten 13.5k off? I don't thinks so, The dealer would have just made 4.5k more, this is just a hand out to the auto industry...
 
I spent the day today looking for a car for my daughter who just turned 16 and a truck for my son who just started a landscaping business..... The dealers were giddy....they them selves can't believe the clunker program....They are out of low price cars literally sold out....They wouldn't come out of the airconditioning to talk to me...I had to go in to find them....If they were outside they were on a golf carts and wouldn't get out of it to talk to me....made me walk up to them to ask questions.... One salesman was so proud of all the clunkers they took in and was in disbelief of the amount he wanted me to see this spectacle...basically a lot that should be full of new cars was like a traffic jam of clunkers, just packed full.... the clunker program ran out of money the other day...the dealers say the gov is looking for 2 Billion more...thye are just waiting for that to happen and had no interest what so ever to deal with me and move on price...
 
My V8 Explorer with only 69K miles qualifies as a "clunker." Just found out I can trade for a Honda Pilot and get $3500. My $7,000 trade just turned into $10,500. Time to go shopping...

***Correction: Program doesn't work that way! Dealers cannot re-sell said clunker.***

OK, Scott, you're right. I dug deep for the details and discovered that the dealer cannot re-sell the clunker. Sad part is that my inlaws have a real clunker that I could trade, but it missed the cut-off by 1 mpg.

I looked at the cars.gov URL. I didn't see that warning. Post the URL where that warning shows.

S bunch of nuts are running around saying the Osama's birth certificate is a forgery (produced by the State of Hawaii). This guy sounds like he's probably one of them. There's some good, substantial things that Osama has done very badly. Why make up crap?
 
Not sure, but I believe you have to log in as a Dealer to get to the section of the site with the notices discussed in the video
 
I hate the damn program. But since it already exists, shouldn't we limit it to domestic cars? Anybody else uncomfortable with your tax dollars being used to help foreign automakers sell cars?:smt021

Just what is a foreign automaker? Honda and Toyota have more plants inside the USA then the other three...so just who is a foreign automaker?:huh:
