340 SUNDANCER THREAD

Can someone tell me the canvas options on a 2000 340da? We are upgrading and want the bimini to extend all the way over the aft seat and have the back and side curtains as well. The boat we have has the back canvas that angles down.

Can you share cost of the above setup and where I can find it?

See other thread, same topic.

new to board and looking for information

I recently purchased an 01 340 dancer and we love it. I am looking for some information on a few things on the boat as well as look forward to spending time on this site getting to know you guys.

My first question is that I have the RN300 Chart plotter and for some reason it keeps telling me that it is not receiving a signal. I am assuming that the antenna has gone bad. Does anyone know what kind of antenna goes with the Raytheon RN 300 chartplotter

I also have a garmin 2006 c GPS. Everything works well except for the sonar. When I go to the sonar page it tells me that the sonar is not available. I am assuming that it either doesn't have a transducer or something is wrong with it. Any Ideas?

My final question is if anyone knows where to buy used parts for a sea ray. Just things like the electric switch panel and stuff like that.

Thanks in advance for any help that I can get

We have a 2002 340DA and love it too. Let me know if I can help and you can e-mail me at farmforce-hardon@yahoo.com

On the RN300. The antenna is usually mounted on the left side of the arch and looks like a little mushroom. I doubt it went bad. Might be the connections? Usually the RN300 also supplies the GPS signal to any other system. In our case the RN300 provides the GPS signal to our Furuno chartplotter/radar. The RN300 takes it sweet time to fix on your position when we pull out of the covered slip. Usually about five minutes but then it's stable. It's really an outdated piece of equipment. If I'd run coastal waters I would invest in a state of the art Furuno radar/chartplotter.

You need to check if you actually have a sonar transducer for the fishfinder function of the Garmin before wondering if it woeks

I look on eBay for used SR parts. These guys http://www.fpmarine.com/ also often have SR "surplus"..

Congratulations as we also have a 2001 340 with 7.4s. We love the boat. Our RN300 is very slow to come up. But works once it is receiving the signals. We have some running experience on our boat. If I can help, just ask.

Any of you fellow '01 340 DA owners want to sell your salon B insert that fills in the when convert the salon into bed??? If so, how much do you want??? We can't find one, and my wife and plans on making one if we can't buy one... BTW we love our 340, just bought it this year... I just wish I had a little more room in the engine room....

Re: new to board and looking for information

Steve . BTW you need a new head power vent cover on your 340. It's missing in the picture!

Thank you guys very much. I have left my plotter on for 30 or so minutes and still nothing. I pulled the Antenna apart and the soldered connection was still in tact. I did by the boat in Florida and it moved to Tennessee. I would hate like hell to by another antenna and that not be the problem. My garmin 2006c works great. I wish that I could pull of that antenna as well. My broker did replace the cover on the head blower for me before I had it shipped. He still has a couple of things that he has left to take care of. I am still having a small problem with the starboard engine only getting up to 4200 RPM's and the port engine getting up to 4600 rpm at full throttle. I have checked everything all that is left is a prop issue. I am going to have the props pulled by a diver next week and have them checked. They looked fine when we put it in the water. The starboard engine is in sync till 3900 RPM then the port engine will go to 4600 rpm and the starboard stays at 4200 tops. The boat only has 308 hours on it. We hooked it up to a mercruiser computer and it showed no codes and running perfect. The broker even changed out both tachometers twice. I hope it is the props. The other problem is that the cabin fridge doesn't get cold enough. They had both refrigerators serviced as part of the contract as well. I am just a perfectionist and want everything just right.

Oh I did add a 26" flat screen TV on the radar arch that works fantastic. I also wired up a DVD player to it, and it works off the generator or a small inverter that I rigged up to it. I will try to attach a picture. It is fantastic to be able to lay in the lake and watch the game or a movie. I wired the sound through the stereo too.

Thanks
Steve

My advice. Change the spark plugs on the engine that doesn't reach full rpm. I had a similar problem with rpm fluctuations, then not reaching WOT rpm on one engine which should be 4600 and finally back firing at 3000 rpm under load while getting on plane. All of it was fixed just by changing the plugs.

Does anyone have any ideas for replacing the original TV/VCR player? We'd like a flat panel, but don't know where else to put it. What have others done?

We bought a beautiful Jensen Marine 19" DC HDTV with tuner for just over 500 for the cockpit. We're going to move it to the cabin because it's not bright enough for the cockpit. They also make a 15". We're going to put the 19" where the 15" is. It'll protrude a little instead of being completely flush, but I think it's worth it.

how difficult is it to change the generator impeller? Is it easier than the engine impellers? Is there a good source to buy the kit?

Jim, I was in Bimini about a month ago and had to change out the impeller there (with the help of a great friend; Ray). It was fairly easy to get out, after I borrowed a pad to put down across the engines so I could lay out flat as the generator is all the way in the back of the engine compartment. It was a little trickier putting back in as you have to work it in the opening and make sure it lines up. Of course being about 100 degrees out didn't help either.

I always keep a full spares kit on board; which includes a lot of parts; filters, plugs, impeller, etc. What kind of generator do you have?

I bought mine from MTSpowersystems.com, and it comes in a small plastic box that is great to store some other stuff too.

Barry

The impeller is a 5 minute operation if you don't have to backflush the heat exchanger.

My '01 340 came with a flat panel TV, that one the two previous owners intalled... Just get an "L" shaped bracket an bolt it to the sliding shelf the TV currently sits on... My TV is mounted at the end of that shelf and it still locks in when the TV is pushed back toward the wall... Plus there is space for a DVD player and storage behind the Flat panel display...

does anyone know the diameter of the bow rail on a 2000 340? I need to buy a flag rail clamp.

Re: 340 SUNDANCER Speaker Replacement

Hello to all, I was wondering if anyone knows how to get access to the speakers in the front of the boat. Specifically the two that are on each side of the bed. Mine are blown and I can't figure out how to pop those mesh panels off without tearing them up.

They are not meant to come off. The speakers are screwed into that panel from behind it.

The only way to do this job is to cut a hole into the "speaker cabinet" from the cabinets on either side of the bed. Here are some photos of mine:

After I cut the hole, I found some hole covers. I think these were 8" and were rather difficult to find.

And the finished product:

Good luck!

I looked in the parts manual and it is not shown... But I think it is 1"... I used a standard rail flag pole from West Marine...
