Bimini Bahamas Boating Fling June 18-21st...

You guys, I am so jealous. I have been out camping/waterskiing the last two weeks up in Wyoming, and I missed the updates to this thread. I am really glad the trip went well and you guys had a great time. I still hope we can get together one more time this summer.

Jack,

What route did you take? Did you stay in Marathon and head up? We were thinking about changing/extending our 4th of July Keys trip and depending on weather head over there.

Ken
We actually rode over with Randy and Cathy on his 44. They were gracious enough to have us. I am still researching keeping my boat in Ft. Lauderdale after the August trip.
I would watch the weather and if it looks good just go to Bimini. With the speed you make you could cut thru Marathon, get fuel, stay the nite and make Bimini the next day. If you like give me a call and we'll talk.
Jack

OK, Here is also a link to the photos I took from the bimini fling.

Brian, I'm burning a disk to send to everyone who went, and would love to have your photos too, so when you can burn and send me your's and Brandon's too.

Thanks again to everyone who went and shared the time, knowledge, food and drink and friendship. For those that did not go this trip, there are a few more flings going over to Bimini and of course there is always next year!!

I'm hoping some how to be able to make it to the Port Lucaya trip in August...

We are just waiting of Marlena and Brandon to get their pics to us. As soon as I do, then I'll get all of them (their pics and ours) to you. I guess we can just put them all on Renee's "Me Gallery" and you could get them off there? We'll figure it out.

Barry,
Great pictures, thanks for sharing. Is that a 240 sundeck that went with you all?

After looking at it more I think it may be a 240BR. The Sundeck has a biger bimini top.

Say it ain't so....

But the more I look at you may be right, the port window is not right for a Sea Ray. Now if I could see the swim platform we would know for sure. Do they still have the metal poles holding it on?

Nice shots Barry and Chuck yes they still have the metal support struts extending from the transom to the bottom of the swimplatform.

Yea there were some small boats that came over with us. One was a Baja closed bow but couldn't of been more than 18-22 ft from the look of it. Pretty crazy. Heard this week or atleast the last day or two the seas kicked up down there Talk to someone today that was suppose to go over and never made it.

Ok so I'm a little slow in posting pics ....so here goes

I just love it when the gulfstream cooperates and gives us flat seas.

Everyone relaxing at Honeymoon Harbor just north of Gun Cay. We had six boats in a raft up there. Notice all the red cups full of margaritas. Jimmy Buffet would have been proud and I think we just about wore out the margarita machine that day.

Again at Honeymoon Harbor, the crew of the Irish Nole and next to them Barry from Sunny Daze.

Crews muster for lunch on the Odyssey while anchored just north of the sunken freighter Sapona.

Randy and Jack in the "spa" at the stern of Odyssey. We all spent time in the water at the slip though they didn't tell us that a large number of juvenile lemon sharks had been released in the area until a few days later.

I believe a good time was had by all. Thanks to everyone for making it a great trip.

Missing those waters and the company already!!!

I went from St. Petersburg, FL to the Keys on the 18th, then to Miami on the 19th, and then on to Port Lucaya on Saturday the 20th- the way down and crossing was like glass. However, when we went to return on Monday, 15-20kt SW winds and seas 6 ft. That kept us in Port Lucaya another day. Tuesday it was still a strong 15kts so we made it to Old Bahama Bay at West End and decided to give it another day to do the crossing. Wednesday was better, seas 2-4, so we crossed without issue. On the way down to Duck Key to stay at Hawk's Cay, thundershowers and winds picked. Thursday had 125nm of showers to the North keeping us "stranded" at Hawk's for another day. Friday was a little better, but winds still up and some rain- we went up through Channel Five, Florida Bay and on to Marco, and then via the ICW only to find a broken swing bridge at Blackburn Point Sarasota! They opned the bridge by hand (yes that's right, they cranked the swing bridge by hand) and after about a 1 1/2 hour delay, we were heading back North. Friday ended up being a 14 hour day. The trip went from 6 days to 9, but it was awesome. I will start a new thread later and post some pics.
