Bimini Bahamas Boating Fling June 18-21st...

hang in there and wait for the rest of us...very calm in the morning but very choppy in the afternoon, which is why we will leave at first light...

Looking forward to seeing everyone Wednesday night. I'm bringing my boat over to the Bahia Mar Wednesday around noon so I don't have to go thru what I did last year; which was work all day and Chad and I went to the Captains meeting; then went back to my house and packed thru the night and got to the Bahia Mar around 1am...

My cell is 954-224-7411, so whenever someone gets over there, give me a call..

Barry

Well if all turns out well weather wise, we should be there late Tuesday, or worst case hopefully late morning early afternoon on Wednesday. We went over to our boat today to gas up and get all ready for leaving Tuesday. Can't wait now, only few more days til we are off!

Hey Barry or anyone else going. From a food planning standpoint. What all do you bring over? We are going to the store later and trying to figure out how much food to bring over, whether just lunches, maybe one dinner? Have never been to Bimini before so don't know if there are many places to eat out for dinner and/ or lunch?

Thanks!

It has been my experience that there are few places to go eat. We bring enough food for all meals and if we go out we have extra.

Back from Bimini and I think a good time was had by all.

Thanks to Barry for some impetus to sign up.

Thanks to Ray for making damn fine on the water drinks.

Randy and Nick just couldn't be more solid people and Jack is just funny.

Really a nice group of people.

Everyone together at Honeymoon Harbor on Gun Cay.

Tom,

So glad you and your daughter made it and had a good time... Adam & I enjoyed meeting and spending time with you and all the boaters and families that came on the trip. Everything about the trip was great; especially making new friends and sharing the time together.

Hope we see you out on the water soon.

I'll post photos tomorrow..

Barry

We had a great time also. Met a lot of good people and enjoyed hanging out with them. We are still on our way back, will post some pics once home tomorrow. Had an adventure this morning, the boat that was suppose to follow us from bimini to west palm had issues so we had to make the 86 mile trek alone in 3-4 seas

It was a great trip to Bimini. We stayed behind today since yesterday was Kathy's birthday and we felt that getting up to go at 6:15 was definitely not in the cards. Gene & Gail came back to the dock after having taken on water. The problem was water leaking out of the sea strainer so in the engine room we went. We tried reseating the seal a number of times to no available. We even had Jack jump in the engine room but it was not to be. Jack is my go to guy in the engine room. You ARE the man Jack.

We ended up bringing Gene and Gail back to Ft. Lauderdale, it was a nice easy crossing with wave heights 2-4 in the beginning becoming nearly flat as we approached florida. We then drove them back to Jupiter. I spoke to Gene this evening and Boat US will be towing his boat back on Tuesday.

At least everyone is home safe and the boats are all ok.

One really awesome thing happened on this trip. It was Kathy's birthday and we had three couples show up for her birthday as a surprise. They all said they could not make it then just showed up. Thank You Randy & Cathy, Nick & Jen, Jack and Marsha, Mike & Anya. You people are awesome and went out of your way to make this weekend great.

I'm so happy you all had a safe and fun time. I looked a tthe raft up pic at Honeymoon Harbor and took a long sigh...

Sorry for my self in not keeping my end together to get there. HH is my Fav spot bar none, and to be there with great friends would have been so great!

Can't wait to get the pics!

I am going to second Randys post. He hit the nail on the head about how we feel about all of you. Tom, Barry, and Brian were great new additions.
I had never been to Bimini and I came away feeling it was one of the coolest places I've ever been with all the snorkling you could ask for. When you hear that you can see the bottom from 40 feet they ain't kidding. The combination of the gorgeous place with the wonderful people couldn't have been any better. A must do again trip.

I agree with you. The water was amazing.

I don't know if you caught the conversation but the night before we got there they released 1000 juvenile lemon sharks from the nursery on the flats across from where we stayed. No wonder all those bait fish under the boats looked so scared.

Great to meet you. you should be very proud of your kids.

Tom

I agree with all of you. It was the first time my son Adam has been on one of these trips and it was great how we both were welcomed by everyone. I had told him before we left, the best part of boating and going on these trips are the people you go with and the new friends you make; and this was a great example.

For us, the snorkeling thru the Sapona was the coolest and Honeymoon Harbor was spectacular; with a lot of curious stingrays coming right up to you, and the drinks and food just kept on coming..

I will post a link to the photos I took later tonight, and everyone can also post theirs to the same site and I'll make a master DVD for all once they are all up.

Can't wait for the next one....

Barry

I guess we got lucky snorkeling around the dock and not seeing any, haha. Heard by the last day people started to spot them around our dock. We did however see a nice 5 ft nurse shark out at Honeymoon Harbor, must of been 10-15 ft from us in 4 ft of water along with many rays out there.

Jack,
It was great meeting all of you as well. My wife and I, and our friends that came along had a great time haning out with all of you over the 3 days there. I'm going to work on trying to get down to West Palm to head over for the Port Lucaya trip but it may be hard. Too bad we don't live alittle closer for a shorter trip down and back but we'll see.

I'll try posting some pics here soon as well

You guys, I am so jealous. I have been out camping/waterskiing the last two weeks up in Wyoming, and I missed the updates to this thread. I am really glad the trip went well and you guys had a great time. I still hope we can get together one more time this summer.

Jack,

What route did you take? Did you stay in Marathon and head up? We were thinking about changing/extending our 4th of July Keys trip and depending on weather head over there.

Ken
