This forum has a lot of members with a vast amount of experience and knowledge. By following the below guidelines you are more likely to gain accurate information regarding your maintenance or repair issue.

When you post a question:

#1) Please include your boats specific model, (Sundancer is not a model, 280 Sundancer is a model) year of production, engine and drive.

We prefer this to be in your signature. To add this to your signature, click on User CP close to the top right of this page, then click on Edit Signature on the left of the page then enter the information.

#2) Please give as much detail about your problem as possible. Also use a meaningful title. This will get the attention of the members that can answer your question. “I have a problem” will not get the attention that “engine with fuel injection will not idle” would get.

#3) Most of the time you will get a reply within a few hours, possibly within minutes. We may need additional information from you. Please check back often and answer questions we ask. Even if you don’t know the answer because you need to go to the boat to check before you can answer the question please tell us that. Saying “I don’t know but I will be by the boat this Saturday and I’ll look then I’ll come back here and let you know” is far better than no reply.

#4) Please follow up letting us know what happened. Even if the suggestions we gave you did not work it may help another forum member who went thru the same thing then reply with another suggestion.

#5) Please do not post the same questions at different locations of this forum. Most members click on the “New posts 24 hours” or “New posts 48 hours” not go section by section looking for new posts.

#6)Finally, please post a thank you. If someone helped you in the real world you would say “Thanks” right? Please do the same here.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Does the Waste tank only hold water????

Hello Everyone,
Wanted to introduce myself. My name is Paul my fiancee and I just bought an amazing clean and maintained 1997 240 Sundancer and have it slipped in Greenwich, CT. Been exploring the LI Sound and are loving this new lifestyle.

I do have a question - hope it is not dumb.

The last boat I had was a 20' bowriding bayliner with no amenties. This is my first boat with a fully galley, porta potty, stern drive (have only had outboards before) - well you get the point.

My question is this. I was reading the porta potty instruction and it seems the it does not empty into the waste holding tank. It is my impression that I can have it either pumped out at a pump out station or do it myself. Am I correct in assuming this. My fiancee and I find it hard to believe that the waste holding tank is just for the galley sink.

Any insight would be much appreciated.

All the best,
Paul (aka Sea P.A.)

Is there a way to set this up where you have to enter it in your "info". Similar to how your location and all that info is done?

Thirdgen.org has something similar under the users avatar. like year, make, model, engine size, etc..... You set it up in your UserCP.

I am pleased to see this thread. Some of the questions that get floated in here are right off of the Psychic Hotline.:smt101

im trying, please go easy

Don't get the wrong idea.:smt101 it helps a bunch when we see a question like " What prop do I need?" or "How can I tell if my boat is running right" if we know what type, model, year, power, drive, etc. Gets kind of frustrating after a while.:wow:
