So... anyone going?

This would be my first year, would love to hear from others who have been there. Crowded? Nice show?

Hope to see some of you guys out there!

Where are you docked? Im in Merrick at BWYC and we can see the show from the Marina. Makes it alot safer to enjoy a few drinks and not have to navigate back home with alot of boats going way to fast for night conditions.

..........and plan to stay late.............its a zoo !!!

is it really THAT bad? you are making me nervous! haha this is my first season boating... I am wondering if I could get a nice view from Hemlock or something closer?!?! What do you think?

Hey detjoet... i boat out of Lindenhurst. Do you get a nice view from Merrick?

I'm a little nervous about the trip actually. I am taking my mother and MIL with me, so I can't exactly take them there at 10am and expect them to wait until 9pm for the show! haha I know if i get there late (2 or 3) i am going to have a hard time navigating around other boats. I am starting to lean towards going to Hemlock Cove and avoid the mayhem until i get a little more used to my boat.

Hemlock is alittle far east of the show.If you come west in the state ch. past the Wantaugh bridge you may be able to troll back and forth while the show is going but it really does get crazy, people anchor right in the channel and navigating in dark is tuff, it was hard enough doing that for the air show in middle of the day. good luck

We get a good view of the show from Merrick but if the wind is blowing twards us than its no good. Im taking delivery of a new 33sundancer next week and might go out to see the show but from the ocean since this boat has more electronics for Nav.. even with 5 yrs boating in Nassau I cant say it will be fun for me,but the kids want to.

detjoet... thanks for the advice. there is a little cove... west of wantagh bridge and south of sloop channel. Do you know if that gets crowded as well? Is there a place to even anchor west of the bridge where it is less crowded?

From your experience... when you say get there early... what do you mean? 10, 11? or 2 or 3? :) Thanks man.

LIKE i SAID,,AT SOME POINT SOME PEOPLE WILL BE ANCHORED DEAD CENTER OF THE STATE CHAN. THERE ARE A FEW COVES WEST OF THE BRIDGE BUT WILL BE CROWDED IF YOU DONT GET THERE IN TIME. YOU MIGHT BE GOOD NORTH OF THE STATE CH. IN MERRICK BAY AND LINE UP WITH THE JONES THEATER WHERE THE SHOW IS.

Its a Great time there...last year I got out too late to get there and ended up in Merrick just south of Whaleneck Marina and BWYC, there were alot of boats out there enjoying the show and partying as well.

Sounds awesome... so what is "late" 3? 12? 7?

Thanks.
