Bimini Bahamas Boating Fling June 18-21st...

That's GREAT Ray. Looking forward to being together with you and Kathy and the rest of your family.. We can match cruising speed over...

See you soon..

Barry

Got the updated info from Karen today, looks like we are staying at Browns on North Bimini now instead of Bimini Sands on South. From what it looks like it's a brand new marina opened like a year or 2 ago. Good to hear others are joining, should be fun!

Yes. I went to their website, and it looks very nice from what they show..Much better than staying at Bimini Sands which would be away from the "main" island.

15 days and counting...

Barry,
What speed you usually cruise at? I assume they'll group boats together based on cruising speeds anyways for run over and back.

Yes, Usually they have a lead boat and a follow (last boat). It's best to stay in groups with those that cruise around the same speed. I usually cruise anywhere around 24-28mph, of course depending on the conditions...

How about you?

Is it the 17th yet???

Usually around 22-26 mph, same thing depending on conditions. Not the 17th yet, for me I only have til the 16th for when we leave from here for the cruise down.

Captains meeting 2 weeks from tonight...

Looking forward to seeing great old friends and making a lot of new ones...

Barry

Good Idea Randy....Are you going to make the trip??? I'm also going to see if Chad is coming over...

The boats I know so far are:

Sunny Daze Barry 320 Sundancer
White Pearl Ray 350 Sundancer
Irish Nole Brian 310 Sundancer
Tom 3900 Tiara

Not from CSR, but friends that I know are also going-

Mike and Enid 28' Boston Whaler
Frank and Reese (I think a 35' Formula go fast)

And of course all the others that signed up with the Bahamas that we don't know yet.

Tom, if you can give us the name of your boat...and if anyone else wants to join, it's still not too late...the turquoise waters and fresh conch salad are only 2 weeks away...

I know this may sound crazy, what is the smallest boat that you would make this trip in? A 22 ft cuddy with single 7.4 L motor? I had heard several years ago that smaller boats could make a run like this when there are several boats together.
Thanks for your input. jd

A good question and one that has been discussed allot. Can your vessel carry enough fuel for the trip (plus a reserve)? Marine Max won't let any boat go on their excursions that doesn't have 2 engines. I know many who have crossed with only one engine and also know many who wouldn't risk it under any conditions. Heck, they run SeaDoos to Bimini.

Certainly, the safest way would be to run with other boats and have all safety equipment on board. The weather is a big factor also.

It comes down to you and what you feel comfortable with. Remember, if you break down, another boat will have to tow you or wait until SeaTow arrives.

Recieved my confirmation today......Bimini here we come!!!
Can't wait to buy some of that Bimini Bread. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

On my boat there will be myself and my wife Kathy along with her sister Mary Ellen and her boyfriend Keith.

2 weeks and counting

Ray

Hey Randy

Just so you know the Bahamas Tourist Bureau has reserved all the slips at Browns and they take care of the reservations for you....we just have to pay when we get there.

Ray

10 days till the Captains Meeting and then off we go...

Time to double check all the supplies and spare parts as well as make sure I have the US, Quarantine, and Bahamian flags from last year. Somehow my Kohler sea spare kit disappeared and I have to order another one.. There will be no way to get parts or the correct oil etc, in Bimini; without having it flown in from South Florida, so take the time to check yours out.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon!!
