Go carts suck

I just got home form the hospital... got a nice ride in an ambulance at 4:00 this afternoon.

We have this go-cart that my wife's father bought before he passed away and for some reason, it lives in our garage now. My 14-year old loves the thing. It has independent suspension big tires, roll bar, seat belts, etc...

Well... this afternoon my son wants me to drive it... as we are going down the street he says "turn it as hard as you can." I did... It flipped... my left arm went under the roll bar and was the primary support for all the weight as it slid sideways down the shoulder of the road..

Things I learned today:

1. Those neck braces and backboards they tie you to before they wheel you into the ambulance are very claustrophobic...
2. One should not go 30 mph in a go cart and turn it as hard as you can
3. Go cart seat belts should be quick release and not like ones in cars because when you are halfway pinned under the side of a heavy go cart, you can't hit the little red release button to get out... so you have to wait in a lot of pain pinned down until someone comes and helps or the go cart catches fire and kills you.
4. Go carts roll over easy
5. Dislocating a shoulder that has already had rotator cuff surgery complete with pins and screws and a rod in the arm hurts really bad when being twisted off your body
6. Morphine is a good party drug
7. Even with morphine, it's still possible to cry for 4 hours.

So my left arm is now all messed up... I think you all should come wash my boat now on a weekly basis since I'm laid up.

Pain killers are good.

I am glad you are OK, but I cannot help myself here.

Sounds like you were trying to do? "Many Cool Mods" :smt043:smt043

I've seen something like this, on the Jackass shows my kids used to watch! The cig hanging out of his mouth, and the helmet are a nice touch.

Now where is that motorized bar stool when you need it.

Hey Gary,

You have a great sense of humor, glad your sons ok and hope you recoup quickly.

I had a really good friend who I hung around with all through high school and for a few years after, when ever a few of my other friends and I would do anything a little dangerous like blow things up, go sky diving or make a night dive, we would talk him into doing it with us, kind of like an insurance policy, figuring if someone was going to get hurt it would be him.
Were you this kind of friend to someone when you were younger?

Here I am in front of my neighbor's house...

We are in the vacant land across from his house (my lawn does not look like that)

I see you're flexing your bicep for the camera shot there. Was that the good side or the bad side?

Where's wingless?

He was probably the doctor in the ER....who knows what kind of meds you ended up with...:lol:

On the bright side...this injury didn't involve a toe or hand or a power cord.

There weren't any girls in bikini's walking by were there????

Can I use your boat while you are laid-up? Wesley says he also wants to use it...........he said something about trying some top speed runs with a Cummins Diesel or something like that.:wow:

I'll bet you can fix that shoulder with a plunger!!!!

I'm not sure, but I think the guy that strapped your head to the stretcher was Wingless. ..

I like that you are worried about not being associated with the lawn. The real quetion that your mother would want to know is "Did you have on clean underwear?"

My heart goes out to you Gary, but this whimpering has got to stop! Come on, take yer drugs and play hurt!

Cruel you say, nah! Look, I'm now 4 months since breaking the Tibia Plateau on my right knee whilest getting off my boat with a heavy shoulder bag on the arm and belly full of Mt. Gay rum!

All this time did I whine ... make you feel bad by complaining about not getting the BEST drugs ... having to be in a freaking cast from groin to toe for nearly 4 weeks and to suffer the loss of ... special night activities. No I didn't! So suck it up Big Guy grab that whelp by the scruff and have him get the lines off and go boating! Stop the whimpering and from now on stay off these landlubber toys! Had you been in your dink and made a hard over manuver, worse case is you'd have swamped in freezing water and maybe gotten trapped under the ice!

So here I am one week after my accident out boating and self medicating in a proper manner!

So let's get out there!

Gary-
Sorry to hear of your injuries. Nice to see that you still have your sense of humor intact. And speaking of pain killers, if morphine doesn't do it for you, ask for delaudid. Now that's the stuff.:smt101

+1 for delaudid. 2 mg of that stuff and I was flyin' high. Twice as much morphine didn't even take the edge off.

Good luck with the shoulder. Mine is still loose from the first time I dislocated it 20 years ago.
