Remote Trim Switch

I plan to once I figure out what part number. I would imagin you would have to remove the engine cowling if your gonna thru bolt it (but does it need to be thru bolted. Factory placement is on the port side but I might put mine on the starboard side.

MM gave me the part number as 815-200-A02
That appears to be the same part number that Esteban talks about for the newer(2003+) units.
I don't think yo would need to thru-bolt it, my stereo remote is not thru-bolted.
Not sure if you would have enough wire to mount it on the port side since the trim pump unit is on the Starboard side.

Ahh good point, could always cut and butt connect in some extension I would imagin.

Did they give you a price on it?

I need a shop that I can fit my boat in that I can get the air down to about 60-70 degrees so I don't sweat my butt off working on my boat. Just going outside right now even when it's in the garage to take some pictures and look over things to learn where things are at I end up taking a shower after as it feels like I've run a marathon. I'm probably the only Native Floridian that would love for it to be around 70 and very low humidity all the time here.

I bought one for my boat but haven't installed it yet. I'll have to splice mine in because the factory wiring was spliced to the new style pump when my OD was replaced. not big deal but it would have been nice to simply click on the harness and be done. The easiest part of this install will be the hole drilling. Crawling back in the engine bay and splicing wires will be 15 minutes of Yoga.

There is a wire kit Part # 84 865771A02 that is a harness connecting old style pump to new style switch.
I have one of these too, but won't need it now that I will need to splice it in. I'll be returning it.

The price on it is around $50+-

What your 240SD does not have the AC options?:smt043:lol:

Ye, but you get to boat year round in warm water:thumbsup:

Have any 240SD done the upgrade yet? Did you have remove the engine cowling?

Chuck, I did this last year. It was a 10 minute job. Drill a hole next to the transom stereo remote, feed the wire through, remove the harness to the pump, plug it into the switch and plug the switch into the pump, and that's it. It is only a $50 part from the dealer.

Charlie,
Thanks for the heads up. I was just not sure If I could reach the wiring with the cowling on. Last time I had to add fluid to the pump it was a pain. Thankfully it was not as bad as the trim tabs fluid.

Chuck,

It is a long way back to the pump. Be prepared to climb over the engine. lol.

LOL Maybe I could just put an AC in the bildge, hmm ya know that kinda gives me the idea of one of them portable units maybe pumping air in there as I do Yoga or Palaties around my engine. The Telephone guys have a/c units for when they are working underground why not have one for your engine compartment.

True I can boat year around, I wouldn't say the water is warm here in the winter though it gets down to the 70's and 60's here

Right next to the transom stereo remote huh oh wait I ain't got one of these. I was thinkin either place it where it's visually apealing and usable or go to MM and take a tape mesure and photos of a 240SD with it already installed.

Here is a pic of mine. The trim switch is the square one on the right. They give you plenty of wire for the install, as long as you're in the vicinity of the pump.

Thanks for the picture. I still think I might like mine on the other side because right now in the garage that side is against the wall and harder to get to I'll have to see how long the wire is and if I can extend it at all.

Chuck, I think anywhere near the stereo remote (if you have one) would be fine. The flatter the surface, the better for a good seal.

Morph, I don't remember if the wires were that long.

Chuck,
I'd put it on the Starboard side of your tow rail since your trim pump should be right below that. Just take a peak up there and avoid any backing plates that may be there.

Trim pump on the 240SD is on the port side of the boat.

Thanks Scott. Interesting to see you have snaps on your top. On mine I've got like small bunchi cord straps on the stern section???

Maybe different canvas mfg's? Those snaps can give you fits at times.

Nah, just a new design.

I know what you mean about trying to stretch those last few snaps on. A bit of beeswax can help make them snap on/off easier (snap lube can attract dirt), but you still gotta stretch it.
