Official 290 Sundancer Thread

'06-'07 huh

There are not many of us here. I don't know when the first year of production was but it was prior to 06. The last year was 08.
We almost need two threads for the 290DA. Those prior to the body style change and those after. I would fall into the latter of the two with our year end 06.

We have not made too many mods to our boat. One was the addition of a shelf in the cabinet next to the main panel in the salon. It seemed like lost space without it. Another was the addition of a sounder module and transducer to my chart plotter.

Currently we are having the isinglass replaced and are looking at using strata glass as the replacement.

I forgot about the underwater lights but we had those added as part of the purchase. Where do most of your boating?

Irie;

Can I ask why you are replacing the Isenglass already? Personal preference? or did it get damaged somehow? I have always thought that the windshield-arch design would lend itself well (from a asthetic point) to replacing the Isenglas with something a bit more substantial and semi-permanent. (I think it was a 340 owner here did that to his boat)

I am odd, I love my '06, I even picked it over an '05 280. Mine came pretty well equipted. Only mod so far is the sound system. I need to finish what I started last fall. While radar is not strictly needed where I boat, I would like to add a radome to the c70.

I would like to do a lighting mod for the cockpit, but cant decide on the color. I think I will do what CJ Martin did to his, Tri-Color Leds !

We really scratched it up on our trip down the ICW in July of last year. not all of it but the 3 front panels were scratched to the point it was difficult to see through at night or in the rain. all others are acceptable. We have a guy locally that can do the work and in speaking to great lakes they recommended using strata glass. They said they could not use it due to some agreement with searay but said it was far superior to isenglass.

We have located a place not far from home that carries it and I am going to pick up a sample.

Ahh I got it now. I marred up the center panel pretty good myself last season. Came from flipping it up and back over the arch.

I took some #2 Novus Plastic polish and brought it back well enough not to need replacement.

We tried plexus but it was too far gone.

Here's a mod I am thinking of doing. I have a second remote for the stereo and I am thinking about mounting it back on the swim platform.

Welcome...There "was" a 290 thread going last year...I wonder what happened to it. I just happened to do a search earlier today on just "290" and came up empty.
I've done a couple of mods too.
Speakers
Nothstar Nav.

I am just talking to a stereo guy about a sub, amp and relocation of the cockpit speakers to up on the arch about ear level. He said he had never seen a smaller amp anywhere.

Re: Official (new design) 290 Sundancer Thread

OK one more 290 DA owner. It has been close to perfect for me !

Well this is about how long the 290 thread lasted last year. I would say that's a good thing. No one seems to have any issues related specifically to the 290DA.

Love mine. Great handling boat even in tall seas with its 31' length, 9'6" beam and 21" deadrise. It's a wave cutter.

(Sort of) Sadly, I will probably be moving on... TO A 340!!!! Maybe the new owner will join in, he's a member here!

Regards,

Bob

Yep, I'm looking forward to being a frequent poster. I keep saying to myself, I can't believe the '06-08 290 wasn't a more popular boat. It certainly seems to have nearly everything we were looking for in our first cruiser. Anyway, have any idea how many were produced by Sea Ray during that time frame?

Trust me, I will have lots of questions in the upcoming months.

Ok, let me start with this question. As you can see from the boat I'm currently in and selling I'm quite the audiophile. Our raft up always looked to me to provide the music entertainment.

Can someone post some pics of how the upgraded stereo package is set up. I'll do mine aftermarket but would like to see the location of the sub, amps and any additional speakers for planning.

I'll probably try and find a way to do the exact set up I had my current boat for the cockpit area and probably not touch what's in the cabin.
