NEW THREAD Employed by SeaRay

I've been following this thread over the last few days on my Blackberry, but am just now getting back to the laptop to weigh in.

This has been said early on; however, cheers to you Chelepop. "True" heartfelt enthusiasm about your company, your product, and your customers is something we don't hear enough- although it's out there everywhere. At the very least, if you listen to the media, it "appears" that every company/corporation is out there to grind the consumer into the ground and steal their money; and, to intentionally provide an inferior product in order to make more profit.

I work for a large insurance company and get sick of hearing that. I know, like Sea Ray, we are all "people" that believe in what we do, the company we work for, and the service we provide. The customer comes first- period. We are not some faceless entity wringing our hands together trying to conspire on ways to simply add another buck to our balance sheet.

Your enthusiasm and focus on us consumers make me proud to own a Sea Ray. I'm sure the company is full of others like you. Kudos to you all.
Well said Chris. Now...give us a real horn Chelepop!

I wish it was that easy Bridog :/. All I can do is bring it to the attention of who might have a hand in changes on our boats. But your comment was not given in vain, it was passed along

Chelepop:

I had the dealer snap some pics of the problem. As you can see the damaged area is not causing problems, it's the blending to the rest of the hull. You can see the spots I am referring to. Some of those spots are not even near the are that was repaired.

Heres the photo link: http://community.webshots.com/album/570420670DPRFdH

Golly Tawcat, how big was that damage to begin with?

Actually the ding wasn't that big, probably 50 cent piece size; the large area you see grew from about 6" area. But you can see the white spots and thats the problem now I guess.

I was going to photoshop a pic, but didnt think I would show an accurate representation.

No Velooce, I do not, but if I was gonna guess they probably used those pics in SR Living magazine. Was yours submitted?

Chelepop,
Thanks for all the input - you are a credit to your employer! I do have a quick question - I am looking for a owners manual for a 2004 380 Sundancer - on Sea Rays web site all I can find is one for a 390 DA that has the same specs (I believe) as the 380! The boat is marked a 380. Any clue???
Thanks, - Jeff

Chelepop, I thank you on behalf of all future SR owners. Thanks for being here too! I wish I still shared the same love for my company as you do yours.

I was trying to see via the pic you posted and all I see is your gauge panel up top and your touch pad on the side. Are these the two you are referring to?

I've noticed that too on some newer models. Black on top (gauges), burlwood bottom(toggle switches). Hey Chelepop, I just noticed your also platinum member. Nice!

Thanks Bri!

I haven't noticed on any of the panels in our facility. I know that the dash visor on the 280 is black but all the burrel panels and touch pads are the same thus far. But Ill keep my eyes peeled :))

Chelepop: Got a response from Patrick Smith. Although not the reply I wanted, he did shed some light as to the color on our boat.

" Let me first say that we regret you encountered a problem with your boat. I understand that your boat was manufactured with Midnight Blue gelcoat supplied by Ashland (Coating # LG-MP-2049S). You may already have this number but I wanted to confirm that it is the correct match for your boat since there seems to be some confusion on this matter. We changed from Ashland to Valspar in 2005, starting with 320DA #1535. Your hull # is 1434, built prior to the change (Your boat does not have Valspar gelcoat).

I'm kinda wondering if the dealer actually ordered the right gel coat.

Hmmmm.

Thanks again.

That would be a real bummer. I think they should spray the whole boat with the new color for you if they repaired an area that large in the wrong color...

Maybe Ashland can still supply the proper color.

Michael

Very Interesting. Please let us know what the dealership says in response :)

Hi, Welcome to the Board. While we are all looking at the drink holder actually below it. Can you tell me how to remove the "Cleo" back rest cushion? I am hanging a small TV from the inside (above the entrance to the mid-birth) and want to check if the Lag bolts went threw? Do you just pull? Also the wood supports are about ¾ inch and pretty wide molded in fiberglass is this a pretty strong area on the 98 250sd.?
Thanks
