Should CSR think about archiving any threads that are say 2 (1?) months old where there has been nothing new added? It is helpful to read the old threads when you are researching a topic, but many times ancient threads get resurected and take on a whole new meaning from the original thread.

Just my 2 cents worth..........

I agree I think threads that are pretty old should be locked. Mostly threads that have had no new posting activity on them. If someone wants to post something about them they can start a new thread and link to the old.

I'm going to have to disagree. As long as people stay on topic ie: XXXXX model thread could live for ever. There is some great info in the old threads, but instead of people searching for them and adding info, they just start a new one.

I agree that some of the threads have really gone off topic and maybe we as a group should try and direct it back on topic when we can.

I also agree they should be locked. This same topic came up on the old SRO board and older threads did get locked for that very reason. Some liked it............some didn't.

No. I might want to update or correct something that I posted a while ago with newer, better information. Makes little sense to have two answers on the same issues where one is a correction or amplification of the other.

The last time something like locking old threads was tried, a number of posters, including myself, decided to take our marbles and go home.

I recently resurrected a 1+ year old post about an inverter. I was considering the purchase of the same model as the OP, and wanted to ask how they liked it (again, a year later). He responded, I bought the inverter. What's wrong with that???

I agree that they should stay alive. If a newcomer searches and finds an older thread that he/she relates to, he/she can ask a follow up question to see if the solution or recommendation worked. Also as Frank said, we can post more current or updated information.
