The existing CSR Forum Rules define acceptable and unacceptable conduct.

Those rules do not currently prohibit trolling. Some of the most prolific forum members exploit that rule omission.

If there is a benefit to permitting trolling within the forum, then that is beyond my understanding.

My proposal is that the rules are changed to prohibit trolling and assign appropriate points for violating that rule.

The existing CSR Forum Rules prohibit personal attacks on members. But, the practice of allowing the personal attacks of other members, provided they are not explicitly named is also exploited by those same prolific members.

My proposal is to change the practice of allowing unnamed personal attacks to a prohibition and assign appropriate points for violating that rule.

Although a month old...not surprisingly...the post still works.

Than you for describing so eloquently what we all feel Wesley! If you have a question, ask it and leave! I notice you are not a sponsor (nor am I), I believe if you become a platinum sponsor, all trolling and offensive material is filtered out, as well as Gary's commentary. You can ask Wes or Jim how it works, as I have never experienced it.

Since this is a php based forum, why not activate yellow and red cards. three yellow cards and they earn a red and get banned. We normally allow good behavior over a three month period to remove a yellow card. In 6 years I have worked my site, I have only had to give a couple of red cards and that is a site devoted to 9-12 graders with over 18,000 members... Of course, I'm a bit less tolerant, no misspells allowed and proper grammar required...

We tried the green ball thing, it was a disaster.

I think some folks just have thin skin and need to get a real problem. The way I see it I wish my life was so nice to have the availibility to make up problems. Most on here are pretty nice and curtious. Some folks have strong opinions. That just makes them them. Once you've been on here a bit you tend to know who the smart ones and the smart a$&es are. You put that in with their advice and you quickly know what it's value is.
My .02 and loosing its value by the day;(

When have you ever seen me even refer to the sponsor system? Never! Your post could not be more irrelevant. In fact Gary wasn't a sponsor for a good part of last year. He is now, so maybe you should thank him for paying for a place for you to insult him.

From Wikipedia: "An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the intention of provoking other users into an emotional response[1] or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion."

Maybe it's just me....but this describes your post.

Are you calling yourself a troll?

A month or so ago, everyone on the forum told you how they felt and that most of your comments appeared to be "trollish" in nature. After that, you seemed to climb off your high horse and make intelligent comments at the appropriate times.

Now, it appears that you are back to your old tricks again.

You are currently advocating the banning of trolling.

It was once said, "Be careful what you ask for, you might just get it."

If the owner and moderators of the forum ban trolling, then you would have to find another place to cause hate and discontent, as you would most likely be the first to be banned from this site.

How about lighten up, get along, make appropriate comments and quit trying to make a bunch of trouble in a relatively trouble-free place.

That did it. This crap is going in the book.

A guy can't even paint his propeller blades without getting dragged through the mud around here.

You know I know a guy who loves his high power 4x4s and is known to paint his driveshafts bright red. This way they are easier to find in the woods when he blows them off! Painted props will be better used on the main engines as upposed to the bow thrusters. This way you can find them when diving to find them. bow thrusters are not likely to have that type of power.
