marthas vineyard mass
hello , i just bought a 1977 sea ray 30ft hardtop. i know a little about engines and things like that. what i dont know is were to get an owners manul or parts book of some sort. i bought this boat sight unseen from baton rouge and had it shipped to my place here on the vineyard in mass. as with any boat i have ever owned it needs more work than i wanted to do. it has twin 454s and velvet drive trans. i have found most of the parts needed except props and shafts . have one prop with a number but both shafts are missing . not sure how long or the diameter. i love the boat and want to get it done within the next few months so i can try to enjoy the upcomming season . any help would be great..View attachment 4541

I am not famailar with inboards but somewhere on the engines it should say who made them. Now 454s were Chevy blocks like mine was and will be again. I'm running an OMC engine and outdrive because thats what came orig. I did have luck in the parts area in used boat parts. You should fine stuff like shafts and props there. Wish I could help more, just like I said, not familiar with inboards.

Your boat shows up on the Searay web site. There is a brochure with specifications in a pdf file. No owners manual that I noticed, but go to searay.com and click on 30' boats and then to archives as a place to start.

thanks for the advise. let me know if you have any questions with that omc of yours. i just sold my 79 tiarra that had an omc running gear. i owned it for 2 yrs and replaced or rebuilt EVERYTHING and i learned alot. now i work on some of my clients older boats with omc drives.

Hi Mike - I will look up the prop size for you, I belive they are out square 17.5 X 18.5 but not sure (will check). I would suggest new shafts with dripless coupling which would need to be different than orginal in length anyway. I have a manual and it is pretty genaric and really does not apply well since Searay I swear made each one of these a little different.

thanks for the help on the props. you and i have all most the same boat . i have never had mine in the water . how does yours handle. what do you have for power?
mike
I have 454's and the boat handles fabulous and is very nimble for twin inboards.

Mike,
Just a thought, but you might get more replies if you moved/asked this in the other section. Maybe the classic or engine sections??? PS you may want to update your signature. Some people will not reply if you don't.

I'd move it to general or engines. Classic does not update the list of threads.
