How about a Memorial Day trip to Port Lucaya? Ray's in and Chad will be healed by then. With this much time to plan, we could have a great turn out.

Randy

I'd like to butt in and say that I'd be happy to make the trip and your various acquaintances.

Hey Randy,

Happy New Year...When is Memorial Day??? One of these trips I'm going to be able to make it!!

Barry

hey guys--How far is it to Port Lucaya? I have a small boat (sear ray sundancer 270). Where would the cruise start from after meeting up?

Thanks

art

Hi Barry - happy new year to you too! You must make this trip, no excuses! Memorial Day is May 25th.

Art - Port Lucaya is about 88 miles from Boca Inlet and about 92 miles from Port Everglades. in good seas, a 27 foot boat is just fine. Regarding the itinerary, I'm open for anything. I prefer starting in the early morning.

Tim - glad you're interested! we always have a blast with these trips. Port Lucaya is a fun place. We should plan a raft up before then to get to know everyone.

Randy

It looks to be about 100 miles away from the FLL coast area; this is as the crow flies using google maps, so it's not precise...

I have a 250 gal tank and even with a 25 mile margin at .5 mile/gallon I'm still a bit nervous about the trek. One could make a 70 mi trip to Bimini and then another 50 on to Port Lucaya. It's abut 20 miles away so likely no more than one hour but if the seas and/or winds are unfavorable to an efficent cruse speed, that might be the answer...

I stand corrected on the distances :)

I would love to have a raft off - I am always up for them! Name a time and a place and I'll be there.

-Tim

Tim - have you experimented with low RPM cruising? my boat gets much better "mileage" at 1000 RPM's rather than crusing speed of 2400.

Like you say, Bimini as a first stop is always an option.

Randy

Oh man - No sir, I haven't cruised at 1000 other than in no wake zones. I'm not sure I could stand the rocking, or the lack of a breeze, or just the boredom, LOL.

Of course, I guess slow going beats fuel-starved-no-going by a longshot. I just wonder if my sanity could withstand 88 miles at 7 mph ;-)

OH COME ON! There are people here who talk about taking their bow-riders over there!

we raft up regularly at Lake Boca. We like to do overnights on the hook with other boats. Lets plan something soon. Ray can come too.

Randy

LOL, and there are people that talk about getting their nipples pierced in Vegas, but it doesn't make it a good idea does it? ;-)

I have been dreaming of doing this for a couple of years. We would need to leave from Stuart as we would need to cross the Okee water way. Anyone interested in leaving from Stuart? We may be in...

Hi Mis - you could cross the lake, then come down south to Delray and join us as we go over. By the way, the trip from the west coast to the east coast (through the lake) is awesome! I did it in 2003.

Randy

Happy New Year Everybody

Randy you know I will be there. As to fuel economy...I burn about .5 miles/gal and have a 250 gal. tank. When we made the trip last year I had no problems and we came back in big seas as you well know.

Ray

Just a question Randy. Are you planning to leave on Thurs or Fri. Of course the return will be on Mon. Looking forward to the Cave Bar

Ray

OK, Randy you and Ray have me already thinking of the trip...I am putting it in my calendar once you give me the exact dates, and will start saving for it!! I know I'm going to do the bimini trip with the Bahama Fling guys again June 17-21st (their 1st fling)...

Keep in touch and thanks for thinking of me..

It seems like we may have a good group on this trip. I would like to hear what others would like to do. My preference would be to leave on Thursday.
