I just got a 84 Sea Ray 225cc with the 228hpMercruiser I/O, and i know nothing about it. I got it for $400 and it needs some mechanical work. Hope i did the right thing by getting it, my wife dosent agree with me.

At least you told your wife. I have mine for three months before I sprung the news. Once she's out and enjoying the day with you, she'll think different.

I have an 86 270 and I'm gonna tell you, there are people out there looking to buy
older sea rays because they are tough and
great sea boats. Mine needed some cosmetics
but we love our boat and I wouldn't trade it
for a new one. as far as the engine find out
if it's ever been rebuilt and how many hours
are on the engine. If the engine room is clean
it probably has been well maintained. You
should get a marine mechanic to check it out,
tune it up and the most important thing is
to check the outdrive. My wife loves our boat
yours will too.
