I felt it was time for us owners of old-ass SRs to have our own offical thread. The 370, 320 & 260 guys did it but they're too new for our club. And in honor of the re-treaded Clinton regime that will be taking over the White House in January, I thought it'd be proper use a Presidential tag to denote cut-off year for this thread.

So if you have a 1992 or older SR, come on in and tell us what ya got. Hell, we all have pretty much the same engines, solid bottoms, the same horrible interior decor and colors (with some modifications), the same stupid plastic drawer pulls, the same cruddy-looking bilges and probably a lot of the same problems. More importantly, we have a bunch of very knowledgable and resourceful people who can share an awful lot of information that could be helpful to the rest of us "old ass SR owners!":smt038

woo hoo...I'm in! ( I have cleaned my bilge though).

Who you callin' "old ass"....

The answer to that would be in the eyes of the reader.

I'll have to get out my glasses.....my eyes are old ass too...!!!!

Speaking of Pre Clinton SRs, this just came in over the wire. I only wish I had those powerplants...

This guy did everything right except pay the note. New canvas, new upholstery and helm chairs on the bridge, new dash and instrumentation, repower. This is a good buy if it isnt in worse condition than the photos show.

Anyone know about those engines? What year would they be?? This boat was definitely NOT offered with Cummins power. TAM was an option but I've NEVER seen one with TAMs.

Never seen this boat with a full size fridge either. Note the crappy plastic drawer pulls :smt009

I'm gonna start a new thread if all this ends up being guys talking about the big sedan bridge and how wide their boat is and diesel power, built in espresso machines and washer and dryer:lol:
Where are the REAL old school owners? The ones with interior so old and dry-rotted when you sit down the disenigrating fabric makes you look like pigpen. Boats so old, that not only do they not have replacment parts, they can't even remember who made them. I want to hear from the real "blue collar" owners!:smt038

Mark, you will be there all too soon my friend! Just wait and see.

2 Can, I replaced mine with some Lowes models with the same spacing. Brushed nickel. (No comments from you Mark.)

BTW, I have a bag full of platic grey ones if anyone's interested. Only feeftee dolla, cheap cheap!!

Another oasro owner here. Been there and still doing it. I used to refer to them as the flat glass boats, but there is a Sorrento from the late 80's that incorporated the curved glass feature. And since you are moving that up a few years, I'm sure more will enter. At least there were no FORWARD facing arches in this vintage!!

OK, my rant: What was Sea Ray thinking when they put those STUPID adjustable hinges on? You can't really tighten them with a screwdriver and they are constantly falling out? Anybody have a better hinge that will bolt up without drilling any additional holes?

I tried to buy some from these guys but they were out and didn't know if they would ever get anymore.

Here are A few of my upgrades to my 87.

It is still A work in progress. We did the cabin upholstery are selves. That is why it isnt perfect. We were thinking about pulling it out again this winter and redoing it. It really stretched out over the sumer as you can see in the pics.

What is the little switch for on the dash just to the right of the hour meter? Looks great with the new gauges!

Lookin' good! Nice work. Love the dash. While it was apart, had you thought of getting the dash done up by that guy who does dashes? I haven't heard anything about him lately but he does beautiful work with simulated burled wood and laser etching of the lettering. That's something I'd do if I wasnt so lazy and afraid of the spaghetti behind my dash. I really dislike my dash...

FLAT GLASS BOATS!! Good one. I had to think about that for a minute but I get it. And the radar arch direction. Very true. If it hasn't happened already, I'd bet the farm that the rear facing ones make a comeback in the next 3 years or so. Probably the Eurotrash boatmakers will have to do it first.

How's this for flat glass!

Sundancer, don't forget the forward facing radar arches on the 268's.

Just a short lived abomination! :smt043:thumbsup:

Thanks! The swith is for the depth gauge. I put that there in place of the stupid clock. If I didnt put the switch in then the depth gauge would have been on all the time as long as the batt. switch was on.

Rondds:
I was thinking about doing the dash in wood my self. I also want to do the switch panal in wood. The dash is really easy to take out so I can do it any time. That is one of my projects on my list.
All it takes is time

my '92 has curved glass.

those STUPID adjustable hinges

One hinge in the second statroom closet door lost a part. I went to HD and had to modify the entire door frame (saws, wood files, drills, you name it) to get it to work. Also replaced the stupid catch (that prevents the door from swing open under way) b/c I could not for the life of me get things to line up and some of the balls were gone too. I placed two heavy duty magnet catches. Works great.

my '92 has curved glass.

Quit bragging!
