Sarcas, criticism, judgement, staying on topic

For those who do not care to be moderated or edited, you may want to consider starting your own group:

http://groups.yahoo.com/?ch=web&pub=fp-us&t=fp&sec=link&slk=adaptivetrough

Easy as 1-2-3.
Start your group today.

You own it, you control who is allowed in, you moderate it. Start your group, email all of your buddies asking them to join and away you go. Mark it private or public.

I created a group for our yacht club. We use it for calendaring (birthdays and events), storing documents like meeting minutes and our monthly newsletter and for forum chat/discussions. It's private so the moderator/owner of our group (use to me) has to approve who can join and can delete members.

It's just a laugh a second around here lately!

heck..those are easy..it's the nose and ear hairs that are a bi#ch... :smt100

good gawd, I ran into an old acquaintance recently I hadn't seen in years, and apparently he doesn't believe in having to do any of that stuff.... damn gross...

If you are replying to my Yahoo Groups post, I did not mean that to be a bust on anyone. I offer this same advice in other forums and to my friends. I learned about this in another forum where a poster was getting frustrated with moderation. The poster started his own Yahoo Group and, last time I checked, his membership was over 100.

Seriously, if you are looking for a forum home where you control the content and membership, it's a great alternative.

I prefer to buck other people's systems.

A skilled barber can use that hair to cover up bald spots. You don't have to join the Hair Club for Men if you know what you are doing.

4. Take your class warfare "your Sea Ray is bigger than my Sea Ray so you are obviously getting over on the little man" crap elsewhere. I have met and boated with several guys on this board running big boats. To a man they earned their money the old fashioned way-they earned it through hard work, timely investment, and risk tolerance appropriate to their individual circumstance. Not happy with where you are in life? Do what our forefathers did after two world wars-man up and quit whining...and find a way.

Please give us a break Skip. There are plenty of jerks with big boats out there, just as there are jerks with small boats. Having a pile of money has nothing to do with how nice, helpful, knowledgable or tolerant a boater might be. Speaking of whiners, please don't let us hear you whine when the Democrats redistribute big boater wealth after the election!

"There are plenty of jerks with big boats out there"

You can't be serious? ;-)

I guess it all depends on how one measures "big", "wealth" and "jerks".

I use to be enchanted with wealthy folks...wanted to know how they did/do it. Honestly, most of the ones I have sat down with are not the kind of folks I want to hang around with. It's the folks who are wealthy and do not display it or talk about that now intrigue me.

It's been my experience (not personal of course) having a pile of money changes nothing about you....the garbage/baggage and issues (low self esteem, resolving issues you had as a kid, you know all the psych stuff) you had pre-pile of money travel with you with the pile of money.

I never said I was frustrated with the moderation here. My point is, based on a recent reply to this post by a member, if you want control over the moderation/membership, there are alternatives out there.

I guess I am missing this post in this thread, I can't find it. Guess I need to go back and read all 16 pages.

be sure to take note of the feng shui post about the toilet seat.
