Excuse me while I vent a little....

I think we all joined CSR for the same reasons, to get help/advice and to offer help/advice. I realize this is a public forum and one has to suck it up and deal with the crap in between.

However, it's frustrating to start following a discussion only to watch it to turn into a debate about something unrelated to the Title or it turns into a back and forth, you said, she said, you suck, he sucks, I know it all.......

I'll do a search, find what I think is a great post that will help, only to find the discussion turned into a "one up on you" or "why I do not like you" or something way off-topic post.

I'll reply to a new post and start receiving emails with replies. Some On Topic, some not. It's a waste of my time to keep reading these emails and/or visiting the site to see the replies.

If you want to judge me, criticize me or throw some negative sarcasm my way, go for it, I can take it, but take it offline with me, 1:1, not in a public forum. Stop wasting everyone elses time. Heck, I will even agree to meet you face to face to continue the discussion if it's possible. All this back and forth on a public forum is a mess. Telling a member they are stupid or (insert your favorite negative comment here> or made a bad decsion adds no value to the discussion.

Folks, please, if you can, take the sarcasm, the judgement, the criticism, the back and forth off line. Use PM or email.

So, please, before you hit Submit, ask yourself, does this pertain to the original post and to the Title? Am I adding value here? If not, take it offline or start a new thread.

Members have left the forum and/or stopped posting because some here think it's up to them to judge who can and who can't post and who has value and who does not. If we all came here for the same reason, we all have value and should be allowed to be heard.

Perhaps this should become a sticky. I am not a good writer so maybe someone can clean this up, remove the emotion, and post it.

I am guilty of all of the above so this is not a do as I say post. I like to have fun as much as the next person. But sometimes, it gets old. Members have left the forum and/or stopped posting because some here think it's up to them to judge who can and who can't post and who has value and who does not. If we all came here for the same reason, we all have value and should be allowed to be heard.

caveat emptor

Greg,
There are so many posts that if "protected" by either Taking it offline, sarcasm or a criticism filter then many of the "good advice givers" wouldn't be heard and protect some of us that could do something stupid, costly or dangerous.

I think there are a few battles that go back and forth because of personality conflicts rather than a boating advice or topic gone bad.

Somehow it's hard for me to think anything but this thread was spawned from your disagreements with Gary?

Either way I feel that most posts iron themselves out, but playing in the holding tank, participating in Religious or politcal threads will get anyone who does covered in $hit.

I am not suggesting a system filter or a system setting..I am suggesting folks be considerate and respectful.

BTW, I assume most here are members of other forums. I am a member of quite a few professional forums. It amazes me to this day how folks think they are hiding behind their electronic\keyboard voice, and, if in person or in a group, they would never say half of the stuff they do. It's almost child like, "kindengardenish" the way some of these posts develop in here.

"this thread was spawned from your disagreements with Gary?"

Nope, not at all.

I guess you could have just said the moderators of this board are terrible and need to do more moderating

Nope, not how I roll. My comments are not a reflection on the moderators.

It appears obvious to me I need to fall back to more of a reader/listener and stop trying to post/help and stop trying to "fix" things that are not broken with the forum.

Accept my apology for starting this discussion. Admin(s), feel free to delete it.

It's a shame that you think this site is broken. Sarcasm or not this is a great resource. We all know that odds are we will never meet 99 percent of the folks here yet it feels like we've been friends for years and all our boat are docked at the same marina. I have no issue with your concerns, but it is dishearting that you feel you should no longer post your advice (which has been very infomative) because some people humor is a little more harsh than yours.

To each his own i guess...

Anyone who takes comments made on an internet forum board to heart, needs more help than can be offered here.

No more help needed thanks.

Not clear on what you are trying to state with this comment. Per your own statement I will not take it to heart.

Gents, again, say what you want to me or about me, you are not going to hurt my feelings. And, I did not state the site was broken nor did I state this was not a good resource. Actually, I have met quite a few of the members on this forum and they are good people.

So are you saying that I shouldn't be hanging crystals over my engines to absorb the bad energy?
