I did. I may reach out to the broker to ask what shop did the overhaul & who did the installation. Even though the engines have < 400h, it was done 5 years ago & likely the reason it was on the market (not much use anymore).Did you have it surveyed at some point before you took delivery and headed home?
Marineengine has one for $30.50 from Mercury.I did a quick check and can't find the bracket anywhere .....including ebay.
I don't think it will be difficult to fabricate something but they need to do some cleanup on it to sort out if there are any other issues. That version of Cool Fuel relies on a copper tube filled with raw water to have contact with the fuel pump to cool it. You can see the copper tube in the photo and the bracket that is supposed to hold both in place.....and in contact with one another. The plate is missing a nut. That plus the zip ties means minimal heat transfer was taking place.
Just another benefit of a life well lived.
Honestly......I just don't understand why someone would use zip ties on this. Clearly they replaced the fuel pump and lost a nut on the tension plate which is made of brass. I'll speculate that the bracket is just rusted beyond redemption that holds the whole assembly to the block.
This is unbelievably dumb, thinking that a zip tie would be adequate to hold this pump onto the o-ring fitting under pressure. I also question Merc's method of securing the pump. It appears to be held in place by the unit's plastic cover that is only connected to the backing plate with plastic snaps? Really??I did. If anything, I’d share this story with those folks, but if this was done on my boat, it’s likely whoever did it has f’d around & done something similar & is now either seeking other employment or currently asking folks if “they want fries with that.”

Completing that trip home with a fuel leak and waking up the next day should be worth something.UPDATE:
So I had received an estimate of $4200 on 3/15. Yesterday I received a tally so far of $8400. Apparently there was a $3500 estimate that I didn’t receive previous to 3/15 for removing the starboard engine.
The work to repair the following is complete:
- repair the leaking fuel pump
- remove/reinstall the stbd engine
- replace the bilge pumps
- repair oil leaks
- remove/replace both raw water pumps
The boat has been down 2 months now & since repairs are complete, they want to replace the flush valves for both engines & re-bed the stbd raw water thru-hull intake. The flush valves are leaking the worst & I’ve approved that repair to bring the tally to an even $10k.
I believe I’m owed a drink after being bent over this far.
