420/44 DB Owners Club

Normally no issues but this season our normal anchorages are clogging the generator. Thinking of adding these for next season. Anyone give them a try? Any issues with flow?

Your linky no worky...

I still can't get the 42/44DB out of my mind. Have zero issues at all with our current 50DA but still thinking about the DB. Maybe someday it'll happen.

Having owned the 44DB and going to the 420DA...main differences are the bridge vs the cockpit and the feel of the salon is totally different.....DB hands down and no comparison. The only thing I liked better about the DA was ER access. Both are great boats...just user choice...

Of course I'd love the QSCs, bridge AC and a hydraulic swim platform, all for 275k. LOL

Really enjoying our 50DA but mentally I am always on to the next.

I got it along with Barnegat sea-strainers for the mains. They were installed on the boat when I bought her. Very happy with them.

The only difference between the mains and this one you're showing, is that the mains have screens which come off for easy cleaning. This one stays on all the time, so I have no idea what's going on behind it. On the bright side, I haven't had a reason to take it off.

We have always used our water tank, however I hooked her up to shore water supply and cannot get but very little water out of faucets.
I have ck’d manifold but there is nothing there about water supply.
What do I need to Ck?
Thanks

I'd check the cold water at the transom washdown faucet or transom shower. If no water there it would have to be the water pressure regulator at the shore water inlet.

I took pressure regulator off. There is a strong stream out of the hose

Not sure which hose you're referring to but if it's the wash down or transom shower they don't go threw the manifold. I'd look at the feed to the manifold

Looks like that city water inlet to the manifold has a shut of valve on it.

I will Ck manifold again. But I think the problem is my jumper hose to boat. Opening to small, starts off strong 2 seconds later no presure. Thinking I don’t have enough volume.

The water pressure regulator is my guess too. I changed it on my 340. The new one needed a slightly bigger hole.

I'd say it's 99% bad regulator. But I'm not following what you mean by "...There is a strong stream out of the hose". Which hose? Are you saying that even with regulator out of the loop you still have no pressure inside the boat?

I put a short washer machine hose on the boat. it’s opening is alittle over 1/4”, so I think it’s a volume issue. Going to larger inside diameter hose.

We are up in the Braughtons in BC Canada, Lagoon Cove and on up to Sullivan Bay. Catching crab and fish and cruising with friends. Good times!

A couple of thoughts on the boat...

1. Water maker (Sea Water Pro) is great to have as water is going to get harder to find from here on up. I would like to be able to run it off of a 120V alternator on one of the engines. Not sure if that is an option but would like to hear your experiences. There is enough transit time to run the watermaker.

2. Hot water is also a commodity as we are on the hook a lot. We run the generator for coffee and battery charging. Most of the time we get water but would like to see if you can heat off of the engines. Again, during transit time, hot water could be available when we get to the next anchorage.

3. I have had solar on top of the canvas on the 380 Sundancer but looking at what is available is funny. Can you believe anyone's listed wattage. I think I should go with a name brand but I do not know if I can trust them anymore that stuff off of Amazon. I want to keep the generator time to a minimum. I think I can get 3 panels up on the canvas with rare earth magnets. That is how I had the 380. So of our friends run big inverters and have 110V all the time. I have only a 2000 Watt so I can make coffee without the generator and use the TV. Some folks in Florida run the generator for days...different needs.

Any thoughts? Would love to hear what experiences you have had.

Cheers!

Our boat has a little water standing under the engines. Does this not drain to bilge or do I need to shop vac it out?
