I am looking to purchase a 270SDX, OB-mercury 300, vd0 v8. I am a family of 4, can this boat be used to water-ski or wake board off of?

Thanks! i just wasnt sure if the engine size and then the weight of that boat would be sufficient to pull someone. We are a family of 4, the 300hp seems like it might not be able to pull me out (200lbs)Absolutely. Just throws a bigger wake than a smaller boat is all. But the boat can handle it. People do watersports on even bigger boats.
I have watched video of a dock neighbor of mine slalom skiing behind a 99 400 Sundancer. It was hilarious, awesome and terrifying
Put some passengers up front, run a long line and enjoy!
Not that I would want to do that, curious how/where they put an attachment point. Damn, I bet that put off a hell of a wake!
I have that boat with the 300 hp Verado. It easily pulls multiple skiers or wake boarders, pops on to plane very quickly. Can pull a skier etc. with eight or nine people on board with no problem. I have done it.
I have used this boat for five seasons now. There is nothing you can ask about this boat that I don’t know the answer to… I guarantee it….
They fashioned up a bridle from the transom hooks. Their first try was with a standard ski rope, 50' or 75' long. The prop wash was so strong he couldn't keep the ski straight or even attempt to get up out of the water. I think they ended up with 3 lines together, 200'+ behind the boat before he could stand up.
You can imagine how many beers were involved in this whole process
Are you sure about that?…. My 350hp 260 sundeck was on the edge…. It was fine but bigger with less hp would concern me a bitIt's a really good hull design and 300HP with an outboard is PLENTY of power.
As I mentioned above, I have had this boat for 5 seasons. That combination comes on plane with no bow rise, tops out right near 50 mph, does 2.8 mpg cruise at 27 mph, can easily handle 10 passengers and still perform well, and can pull up a 210 lb slathom skier with 9 on board. Are you sure about that?…. I’m not saying there is a problem…. I have had multiple 240 sun decks. When I went to the 260 that was pushing the MAG 350…. It still performed well but not like the 240 with the same engine. You can ski with a 70hp…. I’m just saying we all have different performance expectations….. for example a buddy of mine with a bigger faster boat than my current boat…. Thinks mine is just a fast sailboatAs I mentioned above, I have had this boat for 5 seasons. Actually, that 350MAG was 300HP (the cubic inches was 350)Are you sure about that?…. My 350hp 260 sundeck was on the edge…. It was fine but bigger with less hp would concern me a bit
I bought two new 240 Sundecks from you guys at the boat show in Allentown…. Boat shows are my weaknessI miss those 240SD's - hands down, one of the best boats Sea Ray ever produced. I always thought of it as the SUV of boats... it just seemed to do everything!
This I agree with whole heartedly, I loved my 240SD. And it jumped out of the hole, with or without a skier. My concerns when moving up to the 270 SLX were fuel burn and power for water sports. Neither turned out to be a problem and the answer to both was torque and lots of it. Where I had to almost firewall the 240 to get a slalom skier up, I barely get to 1/4 throttle on the 270 and bang they're up. I planes faster even with 8 or 10 on board. Now at WOT, fuel burn is a concern. But I don't worry about that. That's the cheapest part of boating. As it turns out if the 240 was an SUV the 270 is a sports car.Actually, that 350MAG was I miss those 240SD's - hands down, one of the best boats Sea Ray ever produced.
