I'm thinking I'm a dying breed. I still wear a real wristwatch. Not a smartphone on the wrist. Something with a dial, hands and numbers.

What brings this up? I just replaced a Citizen Blue Angels watch that crapped out. Probably from my own screw-up. I didn't wear it for close to a year during the shutdown and it didn't get enough light to keep it running and it stopped for probably 4 months before I realized it.

So I bought a new one yesterday. Not a Blue Angels though but a chronograph style again. It's not an expensive high end job but nice.
 
I have for years worn a wristwatch. Last was a Seiko automatic self wind, had it for 30+ years. Awesome reliable piece, but nothing last forever! This past summer I broke down and treated myself to a higher end watch and bought a Tag Heuer. I love it and it poses no worries wearing it when boating as it is waterproof hopefully to a depth I’ll never see. Lol :)
While a phone will always provide you the exact time, I still like wearing the wristwatch when not working with my hands.:D
 
I bought one of these a few years ago just to make some of the old school engineers I work with chuckle.

$20 well spent :)

My wedding ring cost $31 so watches are my only jewelry. I always wear one.

I have a smart Samsung watch but wear it very occasionally and even then I have it set with an analog face. I have 3 'nicer' watches I wear when going out otherwise it's either one of several Casio G-Shock or Luminox watches depending on color.

I have a TAG that I won while at the Lincoln dealership but the battery konked out a while back and it looks like a ladies size now that watches are way larger. I also have a Submariner that I've had for over 30 years. I should sell it. I can get 3 times what I paid for it....
 
Currently I wear a Timex Iron Man... I've a few smart watches but they don't seem to last more than a couple years. Prior to that, Seiko kenetics were my choice.
 
I have a Tissot Touch that sits in a drawer now because it needs to go in and be recalibrated.

A few years ago I purchased a Garmin Quatix to tie into my Fusion and chart plotter. It’s more of a novelty, however it is kinda nice to control the Fusion while floating in the water. It’s used to also monitor my workouts. The Quatix I purchased had the optional metal band for when I need to dress up. It is a smart watch but by no means has the capabilities of an Apple or Samsung watch. The battery lasts about 2 weeks before needing a 2hr charge.

I too have to have a watch or something on my wrist.
 
Timex Iron Man here. The batteries last about three + years. When the battery fails I throw the m away and buy a new one. Never take them off because repeated removal causes the straps to crack.
 
I have a Citizen eco drive similar to yours and a Samsung smart watch and a mechanical TAG. I switch off depending on situation, but I’ve been wearing the smart watch more as I’m trying to keep track of steps and workouts, which the smart watch is very good at.

Man’s gotta have a nice watch though.
 
I wear a watch everyday. I have an everyday watch for work because I beat them up pretty badly and then I have a Breitling Navitimer that my wife got me for our 10 anniversary for going out. Everyone I know has an Apple watch including my wife and both daughters but for me I just don’t want another device to worry about charging/managing. I always have my phone on me so receiving messages and calls is not an issue. If I don’t have my phone on me such as while swimming I don’t want to received messages and calls anyway.
 
I have a titanium case watch I got on sale for $50 30 years ago. I used to be involved in the welding industry. When I interview people I would give them my watch and ask what was the material. A wrong answer was not a positive point for someone that should know their metals. Watch failed just after I retired so that is it for me working again.
 
i have never worn a watch. My oldest step-son wears a fitbit and my wife wears a Michael Kors smart watch. Daughter has a Rolex that was given to her by her company as an award for hitting a sales goal when she was doing financial advising. $14,000. crazy. They took 3 of them to the jewelry store and told them to each pick one out...lol

So... am I to assume you UN-educated losers don't watch Tik Tok videos on your phones? You dont use your watch as a phone either. "Neither do I". Being an UN-educated old school loser, I do find humor in seeing people watch and talk to their wrists. Yes I sit most of my day i n front of a monitor showing the time in the bottom left corner. I still look at my wrist when I like to check the time.
 
I am still old school in that I love my wrist watches. My wife bought me a watch caddy for the closet a few years ago. Some expensive watches and some typical Seiko's. I don't wear any jewelry so my watch is that. I like wearing a nice watch when going out to dinner etc.

But my favorite is my Garmin smart watch which also controls my fusion stereo on the boat. It does have that annoying phone option where you can use it a speaker phone, but that not me. I'm not James Bond on a covert mission. I do like using it for my debit card though. I don't need my wallet everywhere I go any longer.
 
So here it goes...My mother worked at the jewelry counter for a major department store for years. I got a new watch for Christmas every year. Nothing high end of course, we were poor. My previous was a citizen too. Tim, put it under a light for a few days, I bet it comes back to life. I wear a Tag now that doesn't keep up the days of the month. Pisses me off. I've almost bought a Rolex a couple of times, but find ways to spend it on the boat instead (fuel :D) Maybe when I retire. Or tomorrow. Who knows. I love nice watches. I looked at a Cartier a few years ago. College for my kids seemed like a better idea.

I did everything to revive the Blue Angels and finally sent it to Citizen of America in California. $430 to fix it. A new one is $560 so I had them send it back broken. Decided against the Blue Angels model this time and went leather band that's a little dressier.
