You are spot on with your figures. It seems Sea Ray assumes their customers have an unlimited fuel budget or simply want to run near WOT all the time when they recommend their crusing speed.
They published the same 2,100rpm cruise for my Sedan Bridge, but in reality the boat cruises more economically between 1,650 to 1,850rpm, so I think its fair to assume the 510DA is going to be right around there somewhere as well.
So unless you need to get somewhere in a hurry and cruise at 28+knots, you'll probably get maximum efficiency in the 22-24knot range.
when would you think she plains?
...... The only one I've run had 800 hp 3406's. The damned thing almost planed at idle!....
Now were talkin!I'm diving this Sunday from a custom built 50' dive boat with a 17' beam. She runs a pair of 800HP CAT 3406s. fully loaded with 12 divers and the 'gear' of 12 divers plus crew, air compressors, etc, etc.....I'd say that's fully loaded....this boat will still cruise at 25 knots!
The boat was custom built in 2001 by Chesapeake boats in Crisfield Md.
3406s dont seem to make sense
suck alot more fuel for 4 kts?
What is a ball mill and how does it function?http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_a_ball_mill_and_how_does_it_function
I'm not going to argue what Sea Ray publishes in marketing poop, but when you load the boat as most of us do, the real difference is more than 4 kts. The 3406 boat runs and handles like a sports car.........the 3196 ones run like a big heavy boat.
