48 DA Owners Club

Never seen a 48 with a Crane before. I got to admit, I like the simplicity. Seems like a great alternative to a hydraulic platform.
I have a 1200 pound rated Marquipt davit crane on the boat (52DB); it stows in the transom "fishbox". It was such a pain to use that I installed Presto davits instead. All the pictures showing davits being used on glass smooth water - ha..... I'd swing the dinghy out to the side of the boat and it was a rock and roll show to get that hook disconnected and connected. That hook and weight beaned me good in the head several times.

Tom I agree not ideal for “outside” use. I have watched some pretty bad accidents happen also with trying to launch from a hydraulic swim platform outside, people just don’t take Mother Nature seriously sometimes. Launching a tender is dangerous, no matter the system, you have to be dealing with the risks as well as be trained and ready for what goes wrong….because it will.

Precisely why I went this way; it was perfect in the Bahamas big water -

So took me awhile to find a second one but finally did and installed today. Love the “lighted” emblem look. Had to up the voltage to 24v and run wires but well worth it. Can’t wait to see it at night….

Same style of latch on my 48 as well. I never had any problems with it locking and staying locked.

Have you had any issues with your skylight latches? Ours need replaced however Taylor Made is no longer making and no replacements offered. I’ve searched and searched and cannot find an option to replace with. Any help appreciated! Thank you, Kris

The search function is your friend. I think somewhere in this thread it's talked about... and the people who posted may not even be members any more to reply to your question.

Has anyone with 2007 48 Sundancer been able to find replacements for these skylight clips by Taylor Made that have been discontinued? Thank you!

Here's thought.....some guys on here have begun playing with 3D printers for parts. I wonder if this would be a candidate? @jmauld ?

is there a lot of pressure on that clip?

if you want to send me one I can try to recreate it.

Hi, I’ve attached a couple more photos. I think it is a bit of weight due to the glass but can find out a bit more specific from my captain tomorrow. I’m not sure if we removed one to send you, if that creates a problem until either we have it back or if a new one can be made. Back to you, thank you!!

I can try to recreate it. I can’t make any promises on how well it would hold up though. :)

I am Curious if you could figure out a way to replace that with a short piece of rubber strap like what you would find on a bicycle carrier. https://www.amazon.com/IMPRESA-Replacement-Rubber-Cradle-Compatible/dp/B087K1PWYR/

Hi guys! Got a question - hoping you can help me out. 2007 48. Interior headliner (OEM) is starting to drop on most panels in the cabin. I’d like to remove the panels and re-wrap with new. Any idea how the panels come down? Are they screwed, clipped, Velcro? Any specific order the need to come down (like a puzzle)?

TIA!

It is a huge puzzle I assure you. Most of them are in with velcro and Xmas trees I am sure based on what I have found in my adventures that the headliner was installed first and then all the rest of the boat was built. I would call Sea Ray and have them send you the "PDF" service manual pages for the "how to" in each room. I assure you it is a huge project, I have a couple that are coming loose and plan to attack this coming fall, not looking forward to it al all. Headliners are not fun, I redid the one in my Princess and it was a bitch....

edit: If you get the manual pages from Sea Ray please share them with us, I think we all need them at some point.

Did you talk with someone at Taylor Made? That had to be purchased from some supplier as those are like old school 90's pop up sunroof latches. Now I am scared to even touch mine again. I never really use them anyway but for sure now I won't. I guess worse case we can just glue them in like a skylight.
