2023 slip rates

Why stay there, no other close marina's? That is crazy, I wouldn't stay there just because of that even if it were the nicest marina in the area. Just on priceable alone.

There are four marinas located on the north part of the Potomac River: Columbia Island (382 slips), The Wharf (formerly known as The Gang Plank Marina) (300 slips), James Creek (297 slips) and The Yards (56 slips). All of them have raised their prices and some are more expensive than what I pay.

Yes.....it would be cheaper if I drove another hour south but then I probably would never use the boat. James Creek and Columbia Island (both in need of rehab) have free parking and it is paid hourly/monthly parking at The Wharf and The Yards which have been rebuilt (The Wharf)/new (The Yards).

Conspiracy theorists abound that the Climate Change zealots are doing everything they can to force boaters to "go away". While that probably has some truth to it......the Marinas are at capacity and some have waiting lists.

I am in Woodbridge, VA - just south of you, and paid $7000 last year, plus electric. Waiting for the new bill. All of the marinas in and around Belmont Bay are about the same price.

Ex wife's dad kept his Sea Ray at James Creek. James Creek is a dive IMO. The Wharf would be way too loud and crowded for my tastes.

I agree with you. I was at Gangplank for 12 years before the development and it was a crazy......good place to be. Now it is a Marina surrounded by condos and a lot of noise. I moved to The Yards about 5 years ago and it has also worked out well except for the big price increases and the parking. Both James Creek and Columbia Island are tired marinas.

This comes up every year here on the forum. There is no right answer. We have been in 3 different marinas the last 3 years. This will be our second year in the third marina. I think it boils down to advantages/disadvantages divided by cost if the answer is acceptable…. You’re good to go. Not one of us is going to agree with the other

I would think proximity of your boat to your car would be important too.

I totally agree, while our marina is at the very bottom of LN the facilities are fantastic and it’s all of 15minutes from the house so for me that’s huge.

Where on Long Island do you get that rate? I was $6500 for summer all over Suffolk count north shore. And that was over 5yrs ago. Danford's in PJ was $250/ft.
Mount Sinai marina. It’s a town marina. I waited 10 years for a slip!! It’s 2 miles east of port jeff

Agreed, my Marina is about an hour and a half away depending on traffic. I could choose a marina that's 20 to 30 minutes closer, but then that adds about 45 minutes to my boat cruises, which means a lot more fuel.

I am far from remembering everything you say. I know several people who have hit their boat with their truck. BUT someone who hit their car with their boat....That's hard to put in the past.

I don't have my contract yet, but we got whacked hard last year.

Considering the numbers I'm seeing here, I'm getting away with murder at $1600 or so...water and 30A electric included.

Pump out is free and the facilities are pretty good. 10 minutes from home too.

Spent many a year in that harbor. Yeah they have a 40' max length boat. So didn't know there prices. Nice spot.
Yeah the wait there is crazy. People sublet the slips, like in PJ.

Would that be Montour Falls?

WE just got our bump, $960 extra per yr. puts us right at $7000 a yr. plus electric.

Not supposed to. That's why it took so damn long. I would never register my name in someone else boat and give them my slip. God forbid something happened, but that's what people do. Once your name comes up you have to put a boat in or it goes to the next person. People do that after they get out of boating or never got into it in the first place. What they should do is require insurance. Let's see how many people would register AND insure a boat in the slip holders name and let someone use it all the time.

Ours stayed the same. 2800 for the season, 45' slip, but the required up front cost for the restaurant/yacht club went up by $100. I'm not losing any sleep over that as it's a credit that you get to spend, they are just guaranteeing some income up front. It's good food and convenient so I'm sure we will still grossly exceed our minimum spend/credit again this year.

Come down to PWM. We’re $150/foot for the slip and $20/foot for electric. Water and parking is free. We have a great swimming pool, laundry facilities, grills and restaurant/ bar on site.
