You smart guys have truly lost me...I guess after my back surgeries this week and next, I've got to find the online EE courses and go "back to school"!

I get to spend tomorrow and Friday at the Bonati Spine Institute for L2-3, then next Tues/Wed/Thurs for L 3-4, L 4-5, and L5 -S1. Laser surgeries - out patient. I'm crippled up with sciatica.

My Orthopedic surgeon wanted three days in hospital, 90 day recovery wearing a $1000 back brace then back in for fusions - same recovery.

Holy smokes amigo! Let me know how it goes!! Too many hard landings? LOL!!!

Sheesh Carter - the best on your recovery! Get this book by Tony Robins called Life Force and read it while you are down; enlightening on the human condition - sciatica included.

Hey does anyone know where the Bridge GFI plug would be located? Got down to the boat today and the outdoor plugins are all dead. They did a wash down today and guessing they tripped the GFI. However, i can not for the life of me located the GFI that controls the outside? Any suggestions?

NEVER MIND!!!! LOL I finally went and checked the ER outlets and found the GFI located there. Instead of deleting my post i thought i would leave this up for anyone else that may run across this situation. Thanks!

Carter, good luck with your surgery. Have you had a consult with a neurosurgeon first? My ortho wanted fusion too, but neuro said hell no and did micro surgery. Pain free except for a numb big toe for 15 years. I did NOT have the type of trauma you did however. Mike

Going in to our first spring in 20 years without owning a boat....it really sucks!

Putting in a pool this summer for the kids and grands. Going to enjoy some family time for the next few years.

We will probably start looking for another boat in a few years. We loved our 52DB, but would probably step up in size. The 58DBs will definitely be on the list. If you all had to do it again, what other Mfgs and models would you look at?

Short List for us -
Fleming 55 Pilothouse
Vicem 55 Flybridge

We wanted to move to a Nordhavn but it's draft was too deep for our area and where we frequent.
Insurance is the showstopper for us to move up right now; Florida is a tough market.

DIMMING THE OVERHEAD DINETTE LIGHTS??

6.63.1 is Drawing No. 09-640 Rev 1 and comes closest to the switch issues. On the left side of the drawing, there are separate boxes for these: "Galley Overhead/Valance LT Switch" connected to a separate "Galley Valance Light Transformer" and in turn, the "Galley Valance LVAC Lights." This is the circuit the Vimar dimmer (or whatever it is) controls.

There's another similar set for "Galley Overhead/Valance LT Switch" connected to a separate "Galley Overhead LT Transformer" and in turn, the "Galley Overhead LVAC Lights." This circuit is on a simple ON/OFF switch, a different product from within the Vimar Idea series.

I'm now beginning to think this schematic suggests the OVERHEAD galley lights could be controlled by a dimmer switch, in the same way the VALENCE lights work.

Power enters the switch (pair), then goes from each switch to a transformer on each subordinate line, then to the actual "LVAC" lights. The switch pair is one ON/OFF rocker for the overhead lights and one press on/press off/rotating knob (dimmer) for the valence lights. Could be simply replacing the ON/OFF rocker with a press/rotate dimmer switch would work fine on the galley overhead lights.

Which is NOT the same as the dinette overhead lights, but might be close enough in proximity so the effect is similar.

In my spare time (!), I'll probably give it a try...

Chris - this may put you in the same category as @ttmott - "steely-eyed missile man"!

Following with great interest!!

I am changing my salon tv out for a smart tv. Is this a Bose surround sound connecter?

Finally got to the boat today. The number is 580DB503. Must be an early boat?

Interesting, although puzzling. Our hull number is 58DB535 (i.e., not starting with 580).

Sea Ray might conceivably have built 103+ of these... over the lifespan of 2005-2013.... but I'd have expected them to increment the first digit (603 instead of 503).

If yours is a 2013 model, it's not an early boat...

That appears to be a VGA cable/connector for a computer monitor. My Bose Lifestyle system does not have any VGA ports. It only has RCA Video and coaxial ports for a television interface. That may have had something to do with the Satellite TV system.

Early for 2013 was my thought. I know it’s a big secret from Sea Ray on production numbers.

Yep, obviously not an ambiguous stamping...

So another theory I just thought of... maybe they slightly changed the format at #100 and started re-using the hull numbers.

So from the early series, 58DB001-099... then 580DB100-103+...

Can't really imagine much of a reason to do that, unless for semi-secrecy (?), or unless there's a slight but significant change in the build somewhere along the way...

Not sure how that would jive with whatever the 2005 550 hull numbers might have been, but I've not see one of those so can't make any guesses.

I think it's still likely an OK guess that Sea Ray made at least 103 of these...
