Venture 370 with outboards for sale 2014

posted for a friend over on the Official 370 Venture page.

If anyone knows of any project venture 370's for sale, I'm really just looking for a hull that floats! I want to live on this boat and can deal with one with blown engines or anything like that!

Save yourself lots of heartache and trouble and buy this guy's boat.

I've actually talked to the OP and he's an awesome guy.. These models are priced just a bit too high.. I've got 125k max at this point..meaning I'm approved for enough to buy the boat, move it, get it hauled, repainted and into a slip.. but 200k is just out of my range :-/

The current 28 ft I'm living on cost 24k.. it's not as luxurious as the 370 venture, but at the end of the day, it gets the job done.

If you want a liveaboard that is really not the boat to use first of all.
Second if this is really your financial situation then you have no business trying to own a boat like that. Your 125k i hope would not be financed. There are much better boats for living aboard for much less than 125k. Remember the purchase price is only the buy in price. That just gets you in the game. It goes WAY up from there.

Any one that's been around this site for a long time can remember the kid from Australia that bought a 55 or 63ss can't remember now with settlement monry but that boat ate him alive in cost. It was kinda sad to watch.

Understand your line of thought. Have owned various boats for 20 years and am well aware of the costs of ownership, yearly, monthly and surprises. I am drawn to this boat for a few reasons.

1. Large table up front, with wrap around windows, and a large, amazingly styled bed "room".
2. Room for a large toaster oven downstairs
3. Enough headroom for a 6 3 person to stand up no problem.
4. OUTBOARDS, I'm currently on an I/O and while I have stayed ontop of the maintenance for the years I've had it, I'm tired of dealing with any boat that has running gear in the water. At the same time, I would hate to lose the swim platform.
5. Ease of use. I am not a liveaboard that stays at the dock. I'm here to use it and use it a LOT. Day trips at least once a week, sometimes 2 or 3 is the name of the game. Most cheaper liveaboards I see are nothing but old nightmares, with inboard motors that are a PITA to maintain.
6. The specific upstairs outdoor grill/stovetop.
7. Everything else this has.

At this point I am not going to be buying a house anytime soon, sorting zillow by low to high yields 200k LOTS as the cheapest property in this zip (I have already been approved for over 200k for a house, 60 miles from the boat, and inland, which is not why I moved to my location, I moved here to be on the water as much as possible). My thought is who cares if it's financed if it stays below a certain amount related to my income. That being said, we do agree, 200k is way too much of a stretch even though I do take home a pretty decent salary.

If you know of any other boat that has that list of items, please let me know. I've been looking! It seems most 30+ ft boats are made for families (makes sense) and not bachelors, as I use that front table as the centerpiece of the boat, when I live on it.

I'm sure you're thinking something along the lines of "this dude just doesn't get it, this boat isn't something he can have or should have", I understand that line of thought. A very wealthy client of mine told me to make a goal that seems unobtainable and work towards it.. so here I am... The one thing that does have to change is getting this I/O I'm on now into someone else's hands, pref. someone on a lake, as she's a great boat, but after 4 years of being in salt for 11 months at a time, and keeping up with all the maintenance (and costs of haul out, yearly overhaul), I am growing tired of it.

The max size I can get is 40 or under, due to slip cost, haul out cost, etc.. Also want to be able to single hand it. Which I have already done on various 37's..

15 months ago I could have had a 60 ft ChrisCraft for 59k (from a family friend) that was mechanically sound (as of the survey) but needed a whole redo. It would have been a great liveaboard if sitting at the dock was your thing. Most people probably would have jumped at it. Maintenance costs and dock costs made it a 2 second decision to pass.

Ps. the boat I am currently sitting on, cost 24k, checked out great.. took it on the 1 hour ride from its port to my home port and the very first weekend the engine ended up ingesting water, replaced with a 383 fresh water reman motor direct from merc, 20k later I took her out for a week or two and into winter storage she went. This included a new transom assembly as that broke while they were removing the drive. Over the past 4 years I've needed the engine to come out for a leak at the TA gasket, and then decided to go with a new bravo 3 seacore out drive after a mechanic botched a shaft seal job on the old out drive.

I am well aware of the costs of boats.

Seems like the best path forward is to buck up, sell the current boat in April/May, live on land for a bit (a friend needs someone to take care of his place for 8 months while he's away, a nice place on the water, including running his boat on the lift) and just hope the prices fall, or someone feels bad enough to give away a 370 (hah fat chance!) - I still love this 370 venture.. to be continued..

54 foot. Probably THE most epic story on Club Sea Ray since I've been on it. And that's a while. Always wish he came back on for a final sign off.

125k will buy you a 96-98 400 Sundancer or for a lot less a 400 Express. I am 6'2" and we lived on our 500 Sundancer for quite awhile. The Venture is by no way a liveaboard.

Understood, however I'm not looking for a typical liveaboard. I'm looking for a nimble, easy to operate solo, easy to pull up to the sandbar, or any island in the area boat that can also play the role of liveaboard.. A 500 sounds awesome, till it's time to run it 3 times a week, or out for sunset or sunrise.. I've run all kinds of boats, anything over 37 because a chore to get off the dock by yourself.. even this 37 would probably be right at the limit.
