Need help on a new to me 1992 weekender 300, twin 5.7 mer.
I got water/fuel separator outside tank, canister type changed, I got another fuel filter above fuel pump but can’t see the numbers, (any suggestions [I like wix]??)
Then there is a big filter on rear port side of engine with two big hoses going to it.
I do have a wix filter number 51069.
I’m getting new one but don’t know what it’s filtering??? Gas, Tranny fluid, water surly not??
I drained the 12 year old fuel out of tank and added new gasoline/fuel. Changing all filters and need advice on starting procedures, should I bleed, cycle the switch several times? I don’t see any electrical fuel pump?? Any help or good advice on bringing an old engine back to life would be great. Boat was running great when last ran 12 years ago.

Wix 51069 is an oil filter.

Keep in mind you could possibly still have issues with the new fuel in the old tank and may have to use a portable tank.

cycling the key a few time should suffice. It may also need to crank for a bit on the first start.

Thanks Espos4 I got both engines running great and moved the boat 7 miles to marina slip next to my 32 ft Gulf pilothouse sailboat. Next morning the starboard engine smoke as soon as cranked then no water out the side of boat. I figured it was impeller but now that I'm home I realize that the belt could have been the smoke and may be the problem for now. I know new impellers are needed ASAP.

The impeller might be the cause of the belt smoking. When I got my, new to me, boat the PO showed me the engine would start but he said something was frozen causing the belt to slip. Turned out the impeller had a piece broken and wedged so as to lockup the pump. Just check before smoking a new belt.

I think you maybe correct.
I found 7 & 3/4 fins, out of 8.

Uh, oh. Running 7 miles on an impeller like that? What did the temp gauges say? Do they work? And what color smoke, and where is it coming from?

The 7miles were ran the day before and temperature was 155-170 with gauge. Water was exiting the boat like it should.
The next morning cranked the starboard engine and bluish smoke came out exhaust with no water so I shutdown engine knowing the impeller was probably shot. I ordered replacement 9/25 and should have parts in today.

Questions,
I got the new impeller with no spacer rubber washer or housing o ring. I also ordered another impeller with the housing which includes o ring, rubber spacer, impeller housing and housing plate. I’m not sure where the spacer goes in front of or behind the impeller.
