EIM Keypad Prototype Available

Pyro:
Read the tread, need stbd kidney panel for 2002 320. Same as above. Please let me know if you can produce.
Mine still works if I hold plug in the rear to the side. Bad solder joint?
Can you repair if you can’t yet produce?

Who's Pyro? I only see Philip, and Chip! You found someone to produce them?
I have a 2005 Sea Ray 320. Only need the Starboard Side Panel. #: 1718618

Pyro is the OP of this thread... you need to look at page 1 and the 1st post! Really?

I would like to announce the working prototype of a Keypad I have developed to replace the OEM EIM keypads. These keypads completely integrate into the existing vessel's EIM system without replacing relay boxes, re-wiring or temporary repairs. I am going into production now and should have a limited quantity available in 1-2 months. Keypads will be fully water proof, UV protected and fixes some of the reliability design flaws of the OEM version. PM me if interested.

Pictures here are functional prototypes. Minor differences in the production version.

These include a few additional features from OEM:
- Addition of underwater light button which can be customized/programmed to whatever circuit your underwater lights are connected to
- Addition of hatch enable button to enable to up/down buttons to protect accidental hatch lift
- Working on NMEA 2000 integration so that MFD can control all the same circuits the physical buttons can control

See video link to see unit working.

Pricing still being finalized but targeting $800/each (subject to change). I have a large investment into this product and it's very difficult to get ROI with low quantities.

Chris they look nice, however, they're different then the ones I have. These must be for an older boat. I have a 2005 Sea Ray 320. My pads are the kidney shape ones. Will you be doing those pads also?

Hi, thanks for the interest. I did decide to delay my original plans of eyebrow only, and tackle the kidney style, so this took longer than my initial estimate. The last few production components are just finishing and shipping next week, so I hope to have it available for testing in a month. I've been a bit quiet because I don't want to commit to any dates, but I'm getting pretty close.

If you are committed to waiting, please PM me so I can plan accordingly.

Also, if anyone is nearby in CT or Long Island Sound and interested in testing please PM me. I have one or two people in Long Island, but the closer the better.

Yes, I'm 100% interested. Nothing better than plug and play. I don't know how close you're looking for, however, I'm in Warwick, R.I. The starboard side is a real PITA. I go out drop anchor, then it stops working, and I have to pull it up by hand. I put my navigation lights on, stop at a nearby restaurant then when it's time to leave the lights won't work. Same with the horn, one minute it works, then I don't have one.

I'm all confused. Looking for the Starboard Kidney Switch Panel, and one post directed me to go back and read

Pyro, this is great to hear. How are you coming along with the starboard and port side kidney shaped modules? I have a 2002 300 Sundancer and starting to have problems. I would love to avoid going somewhere else because a plug and play version without having to rewire the whole system would be ideal.

After reading it says you're finishing up, and maybe ready to ship next week.

The post is December 4, 2018. i think it would be easier to directly email/contact. I'm interested in the Starboard panel, and if they work, I'll buy one.

My direct email address is: Harleyd558@gmail.com. Please let me know so I may either buy, or have to move on to another solution.

Thanks in advance,
Allen

Pyro,
If you're making the kidney switch pads, I would like to put my order in for the starboard side pad. I agree, if they work well, and are a true plug, and play replacement $800 is a reasonable, and fair price.

Let me know when they will actually be ready. Sorry, but just frustrated right now, as when I use my boat, I have no idea what's going to work at any giving time. Unfortunately the starboard side probably has the most important switches; navigation lights, windlass, horn, vent window, wipers, etc.

Hi. Sorry to keep you hanging on. I am trying to make these as quick as possible, but it is an incredibly time consuming process to get up and running. I should have the first completed kidney style in a week for testing, however it will not be professionally painted, although will look pretty close. I will have more detailed pictures so you can see what it actually looks like.

Right now I am technically only supporting the following keypad part numbers: Port 1606581 and Starboard 1718618 which are the most popular part numbers. There are a lot of other part numbers used throughout the years, and the button codes and programming are slightly different, even though the keypad itself looks the same. Therefore part numbers other than 1606581 and 1718618 will take me another 1-2 months to figure out. I'm still looking for someone with a boat close by to Norwalk, CT with these other part numbers that I can stop by.

Hey Chris,

I have a 2004 300 Sundancer with a malfunctioning starboard switch pad (PN# 1718618) located in East Lyme, CT. It would be great if I could help you test your product and we could purchase a replacement pad without having to change out the whole system. Let me know if your interested thanks.

Hi All,
See below for some pictures of the prototypes, since I don't think I have shared the kidney design yet. The plastic shells are being professionally painted now and then will be assembling the first batch. I am also considering adding an option to match the same red burlwood as the OEM panels. I will post pictures of those samples. I welcome feedback on this.

I also have been busy testing these on various boats thanks to many members. So far the following keypad part numbers are available and tested with more coming soon.
1797300, 1797304, 1606581, 1606573, 1718618, 1810625, 1810626

Please PM me if interested.

Chris

How about offering replacement black panels to swap out the other original wood grain panels to match your new black kidney panels? It would modernize the entire dash console.

Chris

JUST TO LET EVERYONE KNOW, I RECIEVED MY STARBOARD SWITCH PANEL IN THE MAIL YESTERDAY.

BEFORE I BEGIN, YOU CAN READ ALL MY THREADS; MY SWITCHPANEL WAS JUST ABOUT FULLY DEAD. NEITHER ONE OF MY WIPERS WORKED. I HAD NO HORN, MY VENT WINDOW DID'NT WORK, AND MY WORST PROBLEM IS I HAD TO DISCOUNT MY WINDLASS AND USE IT MANUAL IF I WANTED AN ACHOR. MY NAVIGATION LIGHTS WORKED WHENEVER THEY WANTED. MOST OF THE TIME IT WAS WHEN I REALLY DIDN'T NEED THEM.

I WENT TO MY BOAT THIS AFTERNOON, AND INSTALLED MY NEW SWITCHPAD. ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS THIS CHRIS IS A "F'N" GENIUS. RIGHT THE BOX IT WAS EASY TO INSTALL. EVERYTHING MATCHED UP PERFECTLY. IT WAS AS EASY AS UNPLUGGING THE OLD ONE, AND PLUGGING IN THE NEW PAD. BY THIS TIME I HAD A HARD TIME SEEING AS MY FACE WAS SWEATING SO BAD WONDERING WHAT AM I GOING TO EXPERIENCE WHEN I TRIED MY NEW PAD.

WELL I THINK EVERONE COULD'VE SEEN THE SMILE ON MY FACE FOR MILES. I FIRST TRIED MY ANCHOR. UP, AND DOWN AT THE PUSH OF THE BUTTON AS IT SHOULD BE. THEN MY WIPERS, ONE AFTER THE OTHER. EVERYTHING ON THE PAD WORKED, AND EVERYTHING ON MY BOAT THAT DIDN'T WORK, FINALLY WORKS.

I WAS SO EXCITED, AND HAPPY AN EMAIL TO CHRIS WASN'T GOING TO WORK FOR ME. I CALLED CHRIS DIRECTLY, AND TOLD HIM HE WAS A FREAKEN GENIUS. ANYONE THAT NEEDS A PAD, PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO PUT YOUR ORDER IN WITH HIM.

I JUST WANT TO END BY TELLING YOU THAT OTHER THAN TALKING TO CHRIS ON THIS SITE, I HAVE NO IDEA WHO CHRIS IS; I'VE NEVER MEET HIM; I DON'T KNOW ANYONE RELATED TO HIM; WE DON'T LIVE IN THE SAME STATE; NOR DO I KNOW ANYONE WHO EVEN CASUALLY KNOWS HIM.

I HAVE NO STAKES IN HIS PRODUCT, SALES, OR ANYTHING ELSE. I'M JUST ONE "F'N" HAPPY PERSON THAT AFTER A FEW YEARS OF HEADACHES, MY SYSTEM WORKS. I'M HAPPY I MET SOMEONE ON THIS SITE THAT IS TRULY A GENIUS, HAD THE INITATIVE TO DEVELOP, AND WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE THOSE PADS SUCCEFULLY.

THANK YOU CHRIS.

I'm very interested. I need the two kidney shaped pads. I would take them in black. Doesn't matter to me at all. My Starboard one is dead and a real impact. Let me know the availability.

Hi All,
I hope you all can handle this :) This is pyro. I am switching my profile name to better brand my keypads so people can refer to them as DMP keypads which is short for Digital Marine Products. This sounds more professional, than what once was a random anonymous username. You can message me at either username or preferred at dohanchris@gmail.com, but I will transition over to this username for keypad related messages.

I am currently selling for $800 each. I am offering 30 day return excluding shipping so people can see the look and feel in person and ensure it fixes their problems. Therefore even if your issue turns out to be something unrelated, just send the unit back for full refund (excluding shipping) as long as the unit is not damaged or marred up. I will also cover a 1 year warranty for any issues. Units are designed for >IP67 waterproof, the back is fully sealed. It is plug and play, fully compatible with the EIM system. It can be swapped in minutes. I have tested on a number of boats with everything functional. And I almost forgot the most exciting part (to me), is the gorgeous backlighting of all the buttons, icons and text. This was much more expensive to do, and I could have made the keypads cheaper without it, but once you see it, I think you'll agree it's worth it.

Sorry for the lousy nighttime picture.
PXL_20220828_020956181.jpg

DWABoat: You can order replacement panels in any color or finish from www.technografic.com directly. They likely have all the patterns on your boat.
Harleyd558: Thank you for the kind words. I don't think Amazon sellers could even buy such a 5 star review!

In general I have been replying to people individually and putting them in order on my list. Although many people go MIA. My biggest challenge is ramping up production. Assembly is time consuming at the moment. Over the next months I will further invest into tooling and be able to support larger quantities. So please bear with me during this growing phase.
