58 Sedan Bridge Official Thread

I have been using directv since 2006. I have my motor home setup, my house setup, and my boat set up. I am very savvy with the systems. This is a change that just occurred.

Compare. The lower one is definitely in HD.

It looks as if you are right. Direct TV must be transmitting HD through the SD satellites on those channels. I hooked my laptop up to the KVH system and verified the antenna is locked on the same satellites it always has been. My Samsung TV has to reset itself when I switch to and from those channels which tells me it is changing resolution. I do have 16:9 aspect ratio set for all channels so the picture size really doesn't change but the quality does. But why those channels??

I’m looking for a good reasonable source for engine impellers (CRM 900). MAN kits (50-06599-6027) are over $400. Anyone have a good replacement or source?
I've just replaced one of mine with a Sherwood - I'll get you the P/N this weekend. It comes with a paper gasket - don't use that. I re-used my O Ring - A $55 "toric seal" from MAN!

Here it is:
Jabsco 17936-0001-P Profile Q Impeller Kit - they are available for around $100 on ebay. Found 1 on Amazon for $$60
https://www.amazon.com/Water-Impeller-Replaces-Jabsco-17936-0001-P/dp/B07L6Q3LW8

I ordered two end plates and O Rings ("toric seals" - I love that name!) from MAN for $292 incl tax and shipping.

My dealer changed my impellers in 2019 and they were $76 from him...

To add to the above post:

My dealer changed my impellers at my major service in Jan 2019. I now have 227 hours in the 3 1/2 years since they were changed. I pulled the stbd one out last weekend to check it. It looked great - no missing blades not even any cracks I'm going to go another year on the port one...

The impeller on the left is the one I pulled compared to the new one on the right - juist a little set in the blades...

This is great information. I’ll go on Amazon and grab a couple. Do you happen to have the part numbers for the toric seal and end plates from MAN? Sure do appreciate you responding to my post.

The pictures of the Amazon ones didn't show their packaging, and I wasn't sure if they were really Jabsco's...

I have no idea, but it is somewhat of a problem in our house. Just about every afternoon, we get thunderstorms. If we are watching TV, a message would show up saying "satellite signal was lost do you want to switch to standard definition?". On channel 360, we are no longer getting that message. Just "Satellite signal Lost".

On a different note, maybe they will start doing this for all channels like Dish TV does.

I can't see how they would accomplish that as the HD consumes so much more bandwidth that the existing SD satellites would have to greatly reduce their channel numbers. DTV/AT&T want out of the Sat TV business. If these satellites fail there is no plan to replace and these two are getting long in the tooth.

I've got to say we are pleased with our Dish service at the GA house and we use the Dish Anywhere app on the boat and in FL...works great. I have on my list to see if it is possible to switch my Trackvision 4 from DTV to Dish. I've bought receivers for the boat to replace the HD24 DTV units...

REMOVING THE BUNK ROOM TV

Started that project, no joy. I removed the obvious horizontal screws that enter the black removable TV cabinet base from inside the hanging locker. I removed the two vertical screws at each front corner of the cabinet base.

But there's not enough clearance side to side, inside the decorative surround, to allow the whole TV and cabinet base to slide out. Nor is there clearance at the top of the TV to allow sliding the base plate/TV out slightly tilted. And of course the TV is apparently screwed to the black cabinet base from the underside.

Am I missing an easy trick? Or is the next step the Saws-All approach on the screws holding the TV to the base?

HIGHFIELD CL340GT

We finally picked up our new tender... after we finally got the GHS lift working. The outboard is a DF20A.

This pic makes it look longer than it is, relative to the swim platform width. In reality, the bow and the outboard skeg are almost exactly even with the width of the swim platform at those points. If the RIB was any longer, or if the outboard shaft was any longer, we'd be exceeding the width of the swim platform...

I'm still adjusting chocks to get it all as stable as possible...

I thought I had the Sea Ray instructions for removing the JO Bunkroom TV, but I can't find them. Maybe @bmac has them...

Thanks for looking.

I had instructions from you on how to remove the master TV, but some POs had that so hacked up I didn't even need to pull it open to replace the TV that was there. And I moved that previous master TV to the bow stateroom.

Now I reckon to repurpose the TV space in the bunk room, once I can get the TV out of there...

I'm doing the Master tomorrow - 40" Samsung. Going to toss the Sharp Aquos that was there. Put a 32' Samsung in the bow stateroom - tossed that Sharp as well. I may remove the bridge TV - I usually keep it laying down out of the way - we never use it. JO Bunkroom I will replace someday - with a 32" Samsung on a swing mount.

We replaced the 32" Samsung saloon TV (not original to the boat) with a 40" Samsung, and it takes almost all of the horizontal space available in the cabinet. The earlier TV had been on a Sanus SAN25BB mount and I just re-used that.

(I might not have bothered to replace the 32" but when we got the boat it was displaying two vertical lines down the screen toward the left side of the picture. Oddly, that all cleared up after we re-launched for the season, no clue why...)

So then when we moved the 32" Samsung to the master... and it's a tight-ish fit. (You really think a 40 would fit there?) Had to swing out the Bose Jewel cub speakers, and there's not a lot of vertical space left over. Used a Sanus VST4 tilt mount.

An Insignia Fire TV had been in the master, think maybe it's ~24"... and that's what we moved to the bow. Not much horizontal space left over from that, too. I used a new piece of starboard to replicate the original mount system; the Sharp TV had been mounted with a 100x100 VESA pattern, and the Insignia was a 100x200 pattern...

I'm thinking maybe the hole in the bunk room (once empty of Sharp TV) would make a good place for the small battery chargers for various tools, handheld, headphones, etc.

Didn't have a bridge TV on the boat, and I don't imagine wanting one there...
