Marina Comparison - Port Clinton/Marblehead

Does anyone have a recommendation for a transient spot at Marblehead or Catawba? We will be in Lake Erie on vacation and are looking for a transient spot for a few nights. Would like it to be within an Uber ride to restaurants or other activities. Looking for any suggestions!

What is your LOA? What is your timeline?

Try Skipper Buds/Marina Del Isle or Catawba Island Club if you insist on CI or Marbletucky. I would recommend skipping Catawba/Marblehead and grabbing a dock at Seaway Marina on Kelleys Island or hit South Bass Island(Put-In-Bay) and dock at Crew's Nest, the city docks, Miller Marina or The Keys. Or hit Sandusky/Cedar Point if you're a thrill junkie. Or Middle Bass Island...

Uber doesn't really exist here but there are plenty of taxi services.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about the area. As a last resort I can usually get people in at my marina...

In Port Clinton (very close to downtown) there is Brands Marina and Superior Marine. Both great locations based on your request.

Great advice. We already are spending 2 nights at Cedar Point, then a couple of nights at Middle bass. Looking for a spot in between those 2 reservations and thought somewhere around Marblehead or Catawba may be a new view. We have been to Kelly's Island and Put in Bay several times so looking for something different.

Thanks again!

Are you bringing a dinghy? I think we're all a little concerned that Catawba Island could be as boring as it is relaxing, but both East & West Harbors have plenty to explore by dinghy or kayak.

(the harbors are more north/south of each other btw, but since Catawba Island is a actually peninsula, we just go with the names we have...) :D

Vermilion is also a nice destination. I highly recommend a dingy there too, but even without one, the town is pedestrian friendly.

While at CP, you can jump on the Jet-Express (peak season, excluding Saturdays) for a quick run to downtown Sandusky, which has plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from. We used to call it Sandtucky, but now we're proud of what that town has become and I strongly encourage a visit.

I will be bringing a dingy so exploring will be an option. Our first stop is Vermillion, then Cedar point, TBD 2-3 nights then Middle Bass and finally Maumee before we head back to Motown.

We are at Herl's Harbor next to Catawba Moorings very clean docks with parking in front of your dock, wide Floating docks a lot of them new , large shaded picnic area, clean well kept bath house. The Herl brothers live at the marina at the top of the street and the keep a good eye on everything. They have a range of prices if you get street access or a finger dock they also have a wall for bigger boats.

I strongly agree.

The only good thing about middle bass is the sunny S to PIB

are you a member of a ILYA yacht club?

CIC I can never get in….I think someone knows me there :)

Sandusky YC is another great spot but they are very full…dinghy to margaritaville or stay at paper district city marina

someone mentioned vermillion ..a must visit …if you don’t want to go that far Huron is a great time at the city docks… great dinghy area up the river

we leave Catawba Marblehead every weekend….. nothing really special there…. If you insist skipperbuds is nice and a good bar food restaurant

I don’t ever get tired of PIB…. Stay at miller’s or crews nest

good luck

We are members of the MacRay Yacht club. Great advice guys!
