The 2022 springtime Shine Thread

Just started using Smoove Procut and Bubblegum to finish, good results so far.

Hmm... one side I did in the fall, the other not since spring 2021....any guesses? Smoove Bubble Gum and Smoove wash...

I'll admit, side 2 has better lighting as I have the side door open in the barn.

Side 2 appears to have a deeper luster to me.
But for sure, could be the lighting.

In regard to the Smoove product line, does everyone use the Procut then Bubblegum each spring?
I am going to use the Shurhold yellow brush wheel and their Pro-Polish on the topside non-skid.

Just Bubble Gum here.

Our non-skid is chalky, bad enough that it would leave white on your pants if you sat down

I’ve hit it with a wool pad and cut with a heavy cut compound. I followed up with a pass with a wool polishing pad then sealed with Starke sealant. Seems to work fine but it’s very tedious. I was also working in sunshine today and had to give up because the compound would flash over and dry too quickly

any of you had to tackle the non-skid like this? Any alternative methods? We have the diamond pattern so it’s a challenge to get in between them to remove the oxidation. My previous boat was just the texture and much easier.

Have you watched this video? Tedious looking but great results.

Yup, that’s the technique I used and it worked decently well but he even commented in that video how the diamond pattern is more difficult. Honestly; I think I hurt myself today by trying it with party to mostly sunny sky. The small area I tested on was during a cloudy afternoon and the compound worked better, it just didn’t stay wet enough today

i am going to give a drill brush and some compound a try too the bristles may work the compound on all 4 sides of the diamond better

either way, tedious!

+1 on drake's system. It may be tedious, but once the initial work is done, keeping it up is easy

Unwrapped today. Washed down the starboard side and began the process.

This is one pass with Starke elevate and one pass with Starke ignition on my rotary.
I'm going to use the ignition on the forced rotation DA and see if it makes a difference.

Not bad I think.
Will follow this up with 2 coats of collinite fleetwax 885 before she gets splashed.

I used he pro cut 100 and then the Bubble gum. It looked duller after the bubble gum so I quit using it. Pro cut 100 then I used Collinite Fleetwax.
