I only ask out of pure laziness. Local boat delivery from NY to NJ?

Pathetic, I know but I'm going to ask anyway. Getting from the southern Philly burbs out to Long Island is a minor PITA so I am wondering if anyone knows a local captain who could deliver a boat from Lindenhurst area to pretty much anywhere south of Atlantic City or even Cape May.

Probably won't be worth the cost but figured I do a little bit of research before I rent a car, take a few days off of work and round up a crew.

I hear this guy available

SeaNile did you tell us what you purchased. I didn’t see it posted on our thread

Yup, gather up a few local CSR members to help. I helped a guy deliver a boat from Seattle down to Stockton, CA. It was good experience for me and the other guy and saved the boat owner the cost of hiring a crew. All it cost him was airfare from CA back to Seattle.

I was chief cook and bottle washer and we all took turns at the helm and a good time was had by all.

I've got the crew and the boat ride is about 200 miles, a long but very manageable day trip. Last time I drove to check out the boat what should have been a 2 hr 50 min ride turned into 6hrs 40 min. Wanted to scream when I had 39 miles to go and it was still saying 2.5hrs. Brutal.

Definitely lame but if it was a few hundred bucks for someone to bring me the boat to somewhere in NJ I'm all in. Then again nothing is ever a couple hundred bucks.

Do it yourself, I did from Lindenhurst to Middle River Md. 2 years ago, agree the trip by car to Long island after doing it 4 times got old, but the boat ride home was worth it. You'll learn a lot about the boat on the way. I rented car from Enterprise, and left it in Lindenhurst. Didn't cost that much more for a one way trip. Good Luck

We needed a one way car rental from Atlanta to Gulf Shores in early March so we could then bring our boat up the Tenn Tom. Couldn't find any one way rental cars. Had to get creative, rented smallest U-Haul 10' cube van one way. Not comfy but it worked.

Not pathetic at all. I have thought about the same with mine just to get her home without all the stress/anxiety. I pictured some crazy man running her WOT for 8 hours though and got nervous. I was also told I would need to ride with them.

Hmmm, I am still trying to figure out the cars without driving for 1-2 days. Looking at a 3 hours drive, drop one car off on the way. Take boat home. Get in first car, drive to where the boat was, drive both cars back.

So you rented the van, drove it to the boat, then what? Left the van in the parking lot and they picked it up?

We're gonna make this easy. Hire the came captain. He can bring my boat from Long Island to the Upper Chesapeake, then we can figure out how to get him to your boat which is probably less than an hour car ride south from my marina. He can then take your boat to your marina then we ship him home. Gives the captain 3 days of simple work.

Love it, bingo sold. Hoping he/she works for beer :)

Booked it all online at Uhaul dot com. Charge is based on mileage & fuel. Dropping off was no problem, a location was just down the street from the marina. Marina offered to pick us up.
