I’m looking for information on removing the roof on a 510 for highway transport. Has anyone disassembled something like this?

The hauling company should be able to do this. That said, I have seen some nightmares when put back together including issues with electrical. Can you transport via the water?

Yeah, we are trying to ship it using our own equipment. That said we would like to disassemble and reassemble ourselves. I’ve heard and seen on other vessels the electrical can be a problem due to a lack of connections where you would like them. Our main concern is how to deal with the glass and the rear sliding doors.
Water transport isn’t really an option since the boat is on the west coast and we are transporting it to the east coast.

I would look into putting your boat in a ship and having it transported to east coast. Then run it home on water. A buddy did this with his Carver, for him this was a good decision. 510 is a beautiful boat being on the road can be tough on them.

Thank you, we touched on that method but it might be worth revisiting. It’s a bit of a pita since it’s in Vancouver and we are moving it to eastern Canada so it’s a long trip around.

Have you looked into the cost difference between ocean cargo compared to hiring a captain and running the boat around through the canal? That way you could have some of your own people onboard to represent your interest.

Sea Ray customer service can send you the shipping procedures as well as the shipping dimensions etc. They have been very helpful with a couple boats that friends have had shipped.

I am assuming you are referring to the 2014+ are of 510 dancers. Are you sure the hardtop, windows and rear sliding doors need to come off for shipping or can the top/arch be cleaned of all electronics along with removal of pods? I would definitely contact Sea Ray direct as well as other Sea Ray dealers who have been involved in shipping used 510’s of that model style.

Thanks for the reply’s everyone. I’ve contacted customer service at SeaRay and was sent some information on the boat, shipping dimensions and everything. We are going to remove the radar arch and all the electronics and get a road survey done for transport. We won’t get it all the way home, but close enough we will be able to deal with it from there. Thanks for all the help.
