Santa came early and finally delivered me my new fusion system. Ripped out the old remotes and ran the new wiring from all the remote locations to the media cabinet in the salon.

Planning on having a panel made for the helm, so that one is easy. The question i have is, what have you guys done to mount the fusion remotes (rectangular - im using MS-ERX400s) in place of those round SONY remotes (RM-X60M)?

Tough one, and not too many options. You could have small panels made for the remote backing, the Burl wood look would be nice.

On my 36DB I took a piece of white starboard and copied the shape of the fusion remote then put it in a printer and made the drawing Larger transferred that onto the starboard and cut it out and routered the edge if that makes sense.

If i understand, in the end, you basically embedded the remote into the starboard?

1/8" white HDPE filler panel.
Thank you. Definitely a possibility. At least to start.

No, it was mounted onto the starboard but the starboard was a larger version of the remote. I believe it was 1/4” the shapes mirrored each other looked cleaner.

Got it..
Thank you. If you had a chance to snap/post a photo would be truly appreciated.

This doesn’t answer your question so disregard if you have already worked through this thought process.
On my boat the previous owner had a new Fusion system installed. The head unit is up on the bridge at the helm so they deleted the remote that was in the front seating on the bridge. They put a remote down in the cockpit that wasn’t there previously. That being said, With the fusion I almost never use the head unit on the bridge to change any settings or the remote in the cockpit for that matter. Almost 100% of using the head unit is on my phone with the fusion app. Just letting you know that I find I wouldn’t need any remotes and rarely touch the head unit. You might consider not installing all those remotes and returning them to get some Money back as they are not cheap.
Where the Sony remote was that they deleted they had a round piece of some material other than starboard but same idea that matched the gelcoat color almost perfectly.

Thanks @Jeremygavin
I did give thought to that, but decided I like the idea of the remotes. I'm sure in the end we will wind up using the phone app way more than them, just as you suggested...

I like the remote(s) much better then the app. The app doesn't remember what zone you last adjusted and reverts back to zone 1 all of the time. Drives me crazy, I wish they would allow the app to be selectable to what zone it defaults too.

That is great info. Thank you!

Fair enough. Just wanted to point it out.

You might want to add the ANT-Wireless remotes as well, they are great in the cockpit near the transom, for when the swim platform is in use. You may also want to add the NXR300 by the bar area, found that is a great spot for those.

This. Cut the material so its larger then the footprint of the old piece, then mount the material and new remote over the old hole with a small bead of sealant between the material and boat.

Setup is 3 ERX400s
* Helm
* Transom
* Inside Radar Arch by the J Sofa

Head Unit- RA770 in the entertainment console in the salon

Going to give it a try.

Thank you Gents!

Great project
If your old RM X60M is still functional, I may have a need for one. I need to figure out how to pull it out but I have one that came up dead recently

Happy to send!
PM your address

If you know how to use cad, you could draw up an adapter plate and I can print it for you.
WOW!
Thank you @jmauld, that is an incredible offer.

I don't but I am going to ask around.
Does it need to be in any specific format?
THANK YOU!!!
