Official 510 DA Owners Group

I got a digital copy of the 2000 510 owners manual from the factory after all. It's 300mb so if you want it I'm happy to get it to you with a download link. It's too large of a file to be attached. I also got a copy of the fuel line build sheet. That's too large to upload as well. It shows the generator feed and return go to the center tank. Assuming that is accurate, would any of you have any idea why my port tank is draining at a faster rate than my starboard tank? I only set valves to either Center OR Port/Starboard. System screen shows identical fuel consumption on both engines and there are no leaks in the tanks.

I would also appreciate a copy. Mine is a 2001 but I'm sure these boats share a lot of the same systems and components.
Please forward to : stephens013@yahoo.com

Speaking of same systems; has anyone had issues with the Splendide 2100 washer/dryer combination unit. Mine washes just fine but will not switch over to the dryer cycle. Seems the main control board is faulty (Modula board 09050521). That board is no longer manufactured nor available.

I have used the washer a few times but am pondering the idea of removing it ; utilizing the area for storage. After our Bahamas expedition I determined that storage space was more valuable than the Splendid washer might be.

I’ll get both to you tomorrow. My last fill up I put 149 gallons in my port tank and 75 gallons in my starboard tank. Port fuel gauge doesn’t work. Our typical weekend revolves around 30 minutes of run time and 10-15 hours of generator time. That what made me think the fuel difference was genny use.

Interesting that your port fuel gauge doesn't work; Neither dose mine. I was going to check the sender connections a few days ago but that turned out not to be a simple a task as anticipated. It's located under the stairs leading down into the salon. Turned out to be too long reach for short arms and so on. If it's not the sending unit being out of sorts then I'm pretty much stuck. I'm confident the 4 in 1 gauge is reading fine but the signal to all my gauges comes from the MMDC, a computer box on my fire wall that feeds all the gauges via a three wire concretion. The MMDC signal to my center tank, rudder displacement and tachometer gauges failed. The only way to correct that was to replace the units with independent gauges and sending units. My 4-in-1 gauges are working; apart from the port fuel level. Just leaving well enough alone for the time being.

Talked to a shop in St Petersburg that swaps SeaRay 4-in-1s for direct reading units all the time. The MMDC units are not supported and used replacements are a crap shot.

Just bought this 2003 510 earlier this summer. Looking forward to communicating with this group! I bought the boat from LOTO and moved it to Lake Cumberland in KY. QSM11 motors with just under 1300 hours. A gentlemen on our FB group took this photo last week!

Beautiful boat, love the drone shot! How do you like the boat? I’m getting ready to ship one from the Great Lakes to Stockton California. Can you give me any advice as far as shipping goes, I have a guy to do it but his price is quite high.

It was definitely not cheap to haul due to the height. Hard top came off pretty easy, but hours of unwiring and wiring to get it ready. I had two quotes and they were both almost 20K just to haul from Missouri to KY.
I love the boat! It handles great, easy to maneuver, and just very comfortable in every area has of the boat. It has so much more interior room than my neighbors with the ‘04 500 and the ‘08 520.

Can anyone tell me where the fresh water tank is located, access panel and so on. The nifty water level thingy decided to no longer indicate. Was the probe in the tank when this happened on my 400DA. An easy fix; replace probe and back in business.
Tank location nor sensor components are listed in the SeaRay parts book.

My tank is located just forward of the compartment with the shower sump. The freshwater manifold is fastened to a removable bulkhead that reveals the water tank.

Just off the phone with the SeaRay dudes; seems my tank is centered just foraward (on the other side of a solid bulk head) on which the water manifold is mounted. Can't get to any assess port on the top side to check the sending probe due to instillation of floor sheeting. Guess I'll fiddle with the control board indicator. Reset contacts and so on see if that cures the issues.

Headed for the fuel dock a couple days back. Activated the bow thruster to port; nothing. No mater what I did I got nothing. Gassed up; put her back into the slip and still nothing from the thruster. I could hear the relay slam home so knew I had at least some power power through the system. Long story made short; it boiled down to low power from the battery bank caused by an intermittent battery charger.

Now my question was how come a faulty battery charger makes the bow thrusters stop working when the motors are churning. I was under the impression that if the motors are running you had direct voltage feeding the bow thruster system. Not so on the 2001 510 DA; least no this one. The bow thruster batteries on my boat get all their power from the two 12 volt batteries wired in series to provide 24 volt s to the system. I have two new batteries, wiring and relays are in good order and all is just she was when originally delivered from Sea Ray. Trouble shooing reviled the battery charger had failed; they have a life span and it did it's job a long time but I was surprised when the install of the replacement charger reviled that the only power to the batteries was totally from the charger; nothing from the main engine 24 volt engine driven alternators. Maybe that's the way all; most or at least some of these boats are wired. I'll call Florida Bow Thrusters and see if they will give me the low down on the why's and where for's on this deal.

Anyway; food for thought. Might change your maintenance; boating rituals.

Update us...How's it going ?

New question: has anyone here had to install a step up transformer 208 to 240? My AC units constantly kick off due to “low AC” when I visit certain marinas. The control panel shows 206-210V depending upon the day. My main Marina has 240V everyday, but I guess this Marina is wired with 208 3 phase.
Thanks in advance,
Sean

I'm getting close to laying my 510 up for the season and this will be my first time. For those that do layup for the winter what's your procedure you follow in regards to fuel, water, batteries, etc? Holding tank will get pumped after a run we do today. I'll be in heated storage. Thank you.

Do you have access to power?
I’m sure you will get a few perspectives on this. I just went into heated storage this week and this is what I do. Outside of a thorough pump-out and emptying my freshwater. I shop vac any residual water in the bilge and open compartments in the cabin. I also fueled up for for what that’s worth. The boat is plugged in so I run a dehumidifier and let my smart charger maintain the batteries. I will have the mains, genset and racors serviced while on the hard. I spend time at the boat during the winter so I don’t get carried away mothballing everything.

No access to consistent power. Planning on setting out some damp rid and changing on occasion. Thanks for the feedback.

Hello all. We sold our ‘98 450 and finally closed on the purchase of my new 2002 Sundancer 510 last Thursday! So excited!!

My son and I are flying from Sacramento to Kenosha Wisconsin tomorrow early am. We plan on getting to the boat in the afternoon and getting it ready to head from Southport Marina in Kenosha to Burnham Marina in Chicago. So that should be interesting. Then on Tuesday morning we hope to head inland through Chicago and end up at Sunny Brook Marina in Seneca Illinois. Once we get to Sunnybrook, the plan is to have the boat hauled, hardtop removed, shrink wrapped and prepped for transport. I’m still trying to nail down a transport company but I have three good candidates. The boat will truck to Stockton California, and then on to my slip at Willow Berm Marina in Isleton. Winter haul out on the Great Lakes has really made finding someone to prep the boat difficult!

Can someone tell me what my overall height is for bridge clearance? I will double check when I get there but I am planning a route.

I appreciate any advice and suggestions any of you have!
Especially those familiar with the Great Lakes….

Congrats HardRockin, wish I could help you with with references for hauling and prep but that is out of my area. I hope you enjoy your 510 as much as our family does.

Thank you Avenger! I know we will, the 510 is just extraordinary… We spent all summer looking at boats, from Anacortes WA to San Diego, Miami to the Great Lakes and points in between. Happy to move to the transport phase.

Any advice on bridge clearance? I believe I need to be under 17’ to go thru downtown Chicago. Can’t imagine I’m that tall.

I will be at my boat on Monday morning. It’s on stands so I will take a couple measurements from them top of the windshield and to the top of that hard top for comparison. I know I’m blocked up with the props about 6” off the ground so should get you close.
