Made my Reservations

One of the easy ways to get into the Charlevoix city marina on a day when there is not a special event going on is to drop an anchor in nearby Oyster Bay and stay for a night or two. Put your name on the reservation list as sooon as you enter Round Lake, give them a cell number to call if something opens up, and tune into roll call in the morning to see if your name comes up. We seldom make a reservation and have been called a number of times the same day to come on over. We usually stay anchored and catch them the next day. Oyster Bay is a great little quiet spot to stay and you can dingy over to the shopper dock if you want to go to town. Then there is also North West around the corner if you are not comfortable anchoring out. It usually has slips for rent when the city marina is full. A day or two later you will get in.

Lucky you, I’ve been trying for a week to get my July dates in Charleviox, we may have to drop anchor on July 11th. We will be at Machinac Island 9th and 10th.

Oyster Bay is one of my favorite places in the world. 3 years ago, we were planning on doing just what you suggest but when we go to the mouth of the Pine River, the bridge was stuck down, and they didn't know when it would be fixed, and no one knew how much air was under the bridge. It all worked out as we ended up at Bay Harbor and a friend who lives in Charlevoix loaned us a car.

Hoping they can turn the shore power back on at the island this summer.
We have reservations for the island in June...Lilac Festival. The water has dropped a foot thus far, so let's hope it stays that way!!! We will make another trip up so let us know when you are going!

The planning is done and I have all the reservations now I just need the weather to cooperate. Here is the itinerary.

Great looking summer for you...you only missed the best harbor on Lake Michigan, Grace Memorial Harbor in Elk Rapids. :) But you are close!! Safe travels and may the wind and seas give you smooth cruising!!

Headed to the island June 18-20 and Ignace for the car show June 25-27. If anyone is there..feel free to stop by!

We are heading to Mack Island Thursday and returning the 14th. Would have been great to hook up with a 460 CSR member!

Doc O Rock, looks like a great trip. I have been trying to get a reservation at Port Austin but you can't make a reservation for anything over 40 feet. They can fit you on the wall, but they said that is first come / first serve and that is a pretty long run to not have a spot reserved. We will be in Port Sanilac on July 3rd, then Presque Isle on the 4th and 5th, heading to Mackinaw Island on July 6th.

I'll be up there August 1-5 so long as the lake allows us to get there! Getting a reservation at Grace Memorial is no joke. You really gotta want it :)

I've been to Elk Rapids by car and walked the dock, maybe is the weather Gods allow.
